I took time today to go through a small part of my closet. Wow, what a purge. All my sizes from 24-20 are gone, except for one pair of pants so I can compare where I was, to where I am now. Someday I will put those pants on and show everyone just how huge I once was, and now I am not.
It also means I no longer have many sweat shirts, especially all of my Disney sweatshirts are gone.
They were all XXL, and I am now in XL. I tried on one L, which is my old college frat sweatshirt, and it was too small even then, but they didn't have any XL at that time. I also purged most of my sweaters, too. I haven't worn most of them in years, and there are a couple that still fit, so I will keep them for now, and will wear them when it gets colder. I did find that a couple of the hot pink embroidered sweatshirts that Mom made me are in XL, so I have those. I hate pink, but it reminds me of Mom. It was hard enough to get rid of a nice wool suit jacket that Mom had sewn up for me, but that's too big now, so it must go.
I did find one pair of pants that were size 16, so I am wearing them right now. To give you an idea of how old they are... they are from the Jacqueline Smith collection. IIRC, that would be early 90s, when I first started at CSUF. They feel a little funny, as my shape has changed, and they are straighter than my normal curves. But it will do until I make my pairs of pants that I need to make. Even my 18s are falling down to my hips. Maybe somewhere in my stuff I might have some belts.
I do have a few nice clothes that I will put on eBay. I also had a suit, but that's gone into the donate pile, since it is also from the mid 90s in style. So, I now have two regular bags and one XL bag of clothes for donation. Yeah, me!
I plan on remaking one of the outfits that will go on eBay. I loved it. It was a princess shaped long tunic top in silver pinstripes on black fabric, with simple black elastic waist pants. The tunic was closed with frogs, and had a East meets West look to it that reflected me. I wore it a few times as Isabella, my Giovanni. I wore it to a wedding, too. It is flattering and pretty, and I hate to part with it. But it was a size 22, and that's just too big to take in. So, it will go and I will find a way to remake it, and to remake it even better than before, and maybe in a few different styles. I will be taking photos of it, so I can be reminded of what exactly it looked like. I wonder if I have any photos of me actually wearing it?
Well, back to housework. I've got laundry to finish, dishes to deal with, and a lot more cleaning to do. I've got my donations bags, now for more trash bags.
