Done and done!

Did a lot more work the past two days. Foresleeves are now done, although I cannibalized the ouches from the ones I removed from my kirtle, since I will be wearing my partlet all weekend (highs in the upper 60s), so that part of my outfit will not be seen. I will make a replacement later.

The kirtle and gown have been restrapped, and minor tweaks done. While I want to shorten my placard, I know I don't have the time anymore, as it will be a major reworking. I'd rather get my embroidery frame set up, as I want something to do during the slow times.

So, my list is now:
  • add drill interling, with pad stitching in the collar area, to my wool and silk partlet.
  • prepare the embroidery partlet project onto a slate frame
  • adjust my kirtle and gown straps to fit better
  • shorten my placard to fit the gown better
  • fix the upper billiments of my French hood and remove the chin strap
  • make the silk taffeta fore sleeves
  • restring my pearls

I think on the pearls, I will be holding off on that, as I need a different silk thread than I currently have, so it needs to be ordered. I also need to eventually make a pretty pearl and ouch girdle, but with the weight loss issues, I will wait for awhile to make that up.

Next week, I need to start work on other things for sewing projects... mainly I need my curtains! Yeah, still have the fabric waiting for me, so they really need to be done. It is cold by the window in the kitchen.

There are other things I also want to work on... like making a holiday dress for my daughter. I am thinking of a quasi-Elizabethan or maybe Italian style, or even Victorian-ish; something that won't look too out of place for Thanksgiving and Christmas, in either red or green cotton velveteen. Something she can maybe wear to Yule if I take her, and can wear for a few years, and not sweat to death in it like all these modern dresses have done to her (why do they make such dresses out of or lined in acetate?). I need to sketch something up.

Well, off to bed. Tomorrow will be getting the final bits for rainy Kearney Faire, like getting fruit, and setting up the embroidery slate frame, and figuring out how the stand is supposed to go together.
