After 16 years, the Fresno City College Renaissance Festival is
closed. St. Henry's Guild had anticipated having the West Lawn of FCC
available for another two seasons, but the State Community College
District precipitously decided to rezone that area for parking lots
and more classrooms-effective immediately.
Fresno City College Activities offered to move the site of the
Festival to the field in Radcliff Stadium. After much discussion, St.
Henry's Guild didn't feel the site was viable for a successful
renaissance festival-both for participant safety and comfort and
patron accessibility.
St. Henry's is sad that this intimate, classic faire is at an end,
simply because its numbers were on the upswing and it could have been
a viable community event for another few years at least.
We thank everyone who has been a part of FCC for the last 16 years for
their service and dedication.
As ever,
Heather Parish
FCC Festival Chair
GM St. Henry's Guild
I am stunned, and unsure of how to feel about this. I spent many years participating or visiting FCC Faire, from a Scots clan, to a member of the English Court. For it to be gone, so suddenly, and for that beautiful West Lawn to be changed into a parking lot, is rather crushing. I will miss the faire, very much. But I will always have the memories.
