(no subject)
Ok, now I know why I've been antsy and edgy the past few days (week?) with regards to faire, and Hanford, and IoM, and costuming. And maybe why I felt so snarky when I was looking at some photos of a faire on the east coast.
Rick confirmed that only ONE PERSON was interested in the French hood workshop in our guild, our new member who will be going in peasants this year (not enough time to make a new gown), so she really doesn't need one right now, and can I talk to her about it some other time (not during our meeting). His Lady Wife, and two other regular members, have absolutely no interest in making one it seems. Not even one member of HoTties has contacted me regarding the workshop (they had been invited since they are doing the French court and are local), so I presume no one there is interested, either.
I miss Pat, I really do. I believe that if she was still around, we would be having more workshops (like we used to) and we would be better prepared for Hanford. If it wasn't that I told Pat I would be there at Hanford this year, I seriously would reconsider going to GWW instead. At least there I would have several people to talk costume stuff with.
I really do miss having others around to talk costuming, in person. It is one thing to do so online, but the discourse that takes place with other creative sorts when talking about something one enjoys a lot... just isn't the same online. There isn't the ebb and flow of enthusiasm and the spark of creativity that occurs. No wonder I enjoy Costume College so much... as I get some of that energy then, sharing with other like minded people, chattering away about various things while sewing. I kinda wish we did stuff like that during FFG meetings... hmmm... too bad I will be gone this month from the first FFG meeting, or I would bring my hand sewing and do some work while the lecture is happening.
Yeah, I am feeling a bit isolated right now.
So, I guess I won't have to finish my French hood anytime soon. At least the coif looks nice sitting on my head form.
