cleaning pc and closet
I am writing from my old PC right now, and it feels odd typing on this old system. My hands are getting used to the laptop keyboard, although I do miss the tenkey. I also miss Semagic, as it does a lot of what I want and spoils me on the ease of getting tags.
I am backing up my computer system, at least of the data and programs I care about. While it is doing that, I've been working on the sewing room. More stuff on the floor than I had remembered, but it was in discrete piles of stuff that just need to be put in the proper place.
I've focused on the area around and in the closet, which holds a lot of the fabrics in various boxes. I poked my nose into one, and found fabrics I had completely forgotten about, and I know I bought them fairly recently. I love fabric too much, it seems. Besides cleaning up my life, and organizing my life, I am putting down on a 3x5 card to work on organizing my stash as well. No more buying fabric until I know what I have, get rid of what I don't want anymore, and have it all organized where I can find it easily. So, let me remove some of my searches on eBay regarding those items. {damn, my computer is really slow, it keeps hanging on eBay when I try to scroll down the page.} Ok, a few will die in a few days, so I will just let those end then. The rest are removed.
I may do the same with books, but those I see more often, so I know what I have. But I need a good book library thingy that will run on mac. I have one for my PC that I like pretty much, so I will see what's out there and see how they compare. If nothing else, there are online dbs for books that look interesting.
I am glad to be doing some physical work like this. The kids put me in a very bad mood, and doing this mindless physical cleaning is helping me to destress a bit. I can take it out on fabric bolts, and not on the kids.
Well, back to the closet. Need to box up more fabrics to organize later. Then a good shower tonight before going to bed, perchance to sleep (dreaming is a luxury right now).
