Mediterranean-Style Diet Pattern Could Reduce Risk of Alzheimer’s Disease

At the suggestion of the SBD book, we have been trying the Mediteranean restaurant in town that was Robert's favorite place. I really like their hummus on pita bread (this was before Phase 1) and their meats and sauces. They even have the good rice that starts with a B, that can be ordered instead of their pilaf. We will be eating there more often.

I think it is the much higher intake of veggies that is really doing things for me. Before, I wasn't into much veggies at all, so this is a very good habit change I am making. I hope over time the kids will pick it up as well. It's tough making Cam eat even one piece of most vegies, except for carrots, which must be cooked and preferably sweet. Kids! Well, hopefully Maurelle will get into the veggie eating habit.

And I am really understanding how my choices are affecting their future. My mom, who made good food, really good food, had this habit of piling on lots of her food onto my plate as a kid. Now when I was very active that was ok, but I gained weight near the end of high school because I wasn't nearly as active, but still had her piling on the food for me. She... ate like most Japanese ate, small portions, good veggies she loved, small amounts of sweets now and then, with a lot of activity like daily gardening and dancing. If it wasn't for lung cancer she could have lived into her 90s or longer. I need to become more active, I really do.

So instead of saying it, I am going to get dressed and go take the kids for a walk. See ya later!
