FFG workshop weekend.

Well, I had a grand time this weekend, at the FFG workshop learning how to color on modern fabrics (read polyester, nylon, and others) with dye colored paper and a hot iron. It was like spending a weekend in preschool coloring outside of any lines all over again! I don't know if I will ever use this type of dyeing techniques, but it was fun, I got to spend time with other ladies, and a few hours each day away from the kids being a kid. I think it was good for my creative soul to just be able to play.

I also have a simple finished little kimono to display in my sewing room, as inspiration and bright spring color if for no other reason.

Sadly, on the pattern front, my local Hancock's didn't have either Butterick or Simplicity on sale, they had McCall's patterns on sale, and I hadn't looked through those yet. I was too tired to check out Joann. Well, maybe next weekend.

But in good news, I found a book in the FFG library that is what I am looking for, something that uses art forms and lines to help develop a person's personal fashion forms. I really like that they don't just offer ideas on how to camoflauge, but also ideas on how to highlight an area as well. Your choice. It also details how to chose print fabrics that would work in harmony with a person's particular face and body lines. And they aren't pushing certain designers over others, or ragging on how bad a person looks like Trinny and Sussana were bad about doing (themselves, man could they bag on themselves), but showing how with some careful looking at one's personal body lines, even in the face, that beauty can be found in just about everyone. I am going to try and find a copy to buy for myself.
