Pattern sales!

Well, looks like I will be hitting Hancock both days this weekend to pick up patterns. My local stores are having a sale on Simplicity @ $1.99 Friday-Saturday, then 75% off Butterick on Sunday-Tuesday. Thankfully, I will be in the area both days for FFG this weekend.

And I realize I like Ethnic styles, so long as they fit me. Most off the rack I had tried on last summer would fit great in the bust, but not even over my hips. Or it would fit my hips, and hang off my shoulders and bust. So, I found a pattern I like, Simplicity 4528. While not a plus sized pattern, I know how to enlarge it properly so it will fit my larger form, and still fit right on my shoulders. While it is a tunic in shape, it at least has fitting lines (or that's what it looks like) so I should be able to tweak it to fit better than most tunics that just hang there. I really can see this in some pretty linens I have around here somewhere, or in simple white linen with gold, black, dark blue, or dark red embellishments, like in my Folkwear book. Ooohhh, the possibilities.

I sure hope I have time to make some of these for Costume College. I know I won't have time before Ren Symposium, since I need to be doing other things between now and then.

patterns, "project: improving me!"
