Is That Apathy, Or What?
I asked a young gym instructor yesterday who was contesting in his area for the upcoming elections. Not only did he not know when the polling day was, he did not even know where his polling station was. When I asked him which opposition party was contesting in his area, he asked me why they contest. He said that they would oppose government policy, and then get thrown into jail!
At that point, I did not know whether to laugh or cry. I am glad that some of the younger ones in our midst are taking an interest in politics and shaping the future of our nation. I just hope that they are in the majority (whatever their political views), rather than that gym instructor that I spoke to...
