(Momo's eyes widen in fear as she sees the damage on Maria. She runs up and checks over Mad. An uneasy feeling washes over Momo as she sees the near catatonic Mad. She takes a knee next to Mad and gives her a gentle touch on the shoulder.)

Mad? What's wrong?

[For a moment it looked like Mad was about to respond... then something clicked... Momo was a Desu... she IS a Desu... all Desus are murderers... all Desus are liars. All Desus are trying to kill her.]

[Mad practically pulled away from Momo like she was on fire...]

NO!!! Go away! Please! Don't kill me! Please...please go away...

[She whimpered as she curled in on herself... what on EARTH could have caused THAT reaction?]

[minorbeat]

(Momo looks in shock. Mad's violent reaction caused old memories of Seiren's victims to flood her mind. Momo grabs the right side of her face as if in pain as her eyes change for a second. Momo calms herself down and whispers sadly to Mad.)

I won't do that. Mad, you are my friend. I promise that I won't hurt you. I swear on my life. So please, let me in. I don't want to see you in pain.

Y..you're lying... I know you are... everyone's always lied to me.... especially her...

[Her? Which her? Who's Mad even talking about here?]

[minorbeat]

I am not lying to you Mad...I never want to see someone I care about hurt by my hands again...I'd rather kill myself than do that.

(There is complete seriousness in Momo's voice when she says that.)

...Mad, I don't want to force you to talk about it if you don't want to. However, as your friend, I can't leave you like this. So please...please...

[Mad remains silent... just sitting there and refusing to do anything. Momo... Mad may or may not believe you... its hard to tell... but maybe it might be for the best to give her some time alone.]

[minorbeat]

(Momo looks at Mad for a beat before looking down sadly. She looks back at Mad for a second.)

...I'll give you some space to think...Once you are ready to talk, I'll be there and I will listen, okay?

(Momo stares at Mad for a beat to see if it sank in. She bites her lips, not wanting to leave Mad in this state, before standing up and moving away from Mad. She stays close though, unable to bring herself to move too far away, just enough to hopefully give Mad the space she needs.)

Prompt 2

[minorbeat]

(Momo sees the beat down start but is slow to react due to her crippling emotional state. She sees Ciel step in and Mad break her own arm before running. Momo can see something in Mad that scares her. It scares her because she recognizes it. She hops down and nods to Ciel silently signaling for her to stay with Hana as Momo chases after Mad. She catches up with Mad just in time to see the gun. Her eyes widen in panic.)

STOP!!! Don't do it Mad!

(Momo moves as fast as she can and tries to force the gun away so that it is no longer pointed at Mad, placing her finger before the cocked hammer as a safety measure first.)

Mad, I don't know exactly what is wrong but this won't solve anything! It will just cause more pain and sadness, so please calm down!

Pain.... and SADNESS?!

[Mad practically screamed that last part before headbutting Momo as hard as she could and tried to pull the gun away.]

PAIN AND SADNESS?! JUST WHAT THE FUCKING HELL WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT COMPARED TO ME?! DID YOU FIND OUT YOUR ENTIRE LIFE WAS NOTHING BUT LIES HEAPED ON MORE LIES!?

THAT ALL THE HEROES YOU BELIEVED IN BETRAYED YOU AND BROKE EVERY PROMISE AND NEVER LOVED YOU AT ALL?!

THAT NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO YOU'RE ALWAYS FUCKING DESTINED TO DO NOTHING BUT FAIL OVER AND OVER AGAIN BECAUSE THE UNIVERSE THINKS YOU SHOULDN'T FUCKING EXIST!?!???

[minorbeat]

(Momo looks at Mad with untold rage and sadness. Momo tanks the headbutt do to her enhanced endurance and continues to hold the gun away from Mad.)

I HAVE HAD MY WHOLE FUCKING LIFE RIPPED AWAY FROM ME, MAD!!! I HAD TO WATCH HELPLESSLY AS I LOST THE ONLY FAMILY I HAD!! I HAD MY ONLY REASON TO FIGHT TELL ME THAT SHE HATED ME!

AND WHEN I WAS AT ROCK BOTTOM, I WAS FED LIES AND HATRED WHICH CAUSED ME TO LOSE SIGHT OF MYSELF! IT MADE HER COME TO BE! IT CREATED SEIREN!

I HAVE BEEN IN THIS SITUATION MAD! I KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE A FEW POUNDS OF PRESSURE AWAY FROM TAKING YOUR OWN LIFE! TO FEEL THE COLD METAL ON YOUR HEAD!

(Momo tries harder to take the gun away from Mad. As she does, her anger leaves and all Mad can see is an endless pool of sadness in her eyes.)

I have long since failed to overcome my pain and sadness. But you can still move on Mad. Tell me, was your friendship with me a lie?! Was your promise to be there as my friend a lie?! NO!!! So please! Please just listen to me!

MAYBE IT WAS!! I'M A LIE MOMO! EVERYTHING! MY NAME! MY LIFE! MY FAMILY! EVERYTHING ABOUT ME WAS A FUCKING LIE!

[She struggles, crying tears of frustration and rage now.]

I want it to stop... the lies... the pain... everything... . it hurts so much... I just want to go away... I want to stop being here... being me... because no one would miss me anyway...

I'm a weakling... a joke...

[Because out of everyone on the Chalice... if Mad died, life would go on as usual and no one would shed a tear or bat an eyelash... as far as she knows.]

[minorbeat]

(Momo makes one last move and pulls the gun away from Mad before chucking it as hard as she can away from them. Momo turns back to Mad with tears in her eyes.)

That's not true. I would miss you. You are one of the only friends I have. And I know that it hurts. Trust me when I say I might know that feeling better than anyone on this whole ship. But killing yourself solves nothing.

You aren't a lie nor are you a joke. You are my friend. And nothing can change that fact.

(Momo hugs Mad gently, similar to how a mother holds her crying daughter. She didn't care if Mad lashed out at her. She didn't care if Mad hurt her for this. Momo just wants Mad to feel better, no matter how much Momo has to bleed for it.)

[And Mad struggled... her memories... her instincts... everything still associated the Desus with danger and death. She struggled like a terrified child in the grip of an adult - and managed to worm away, giving Momo one look of fear before continuing down the multitude of halls...]

[There would be no comfort here for her...]

[minorbeat]

(Momo tries to run after Mad but she loses her soon enough. Momo bites her lip hard and slams her fist into the side of a wall, hard enough to leave a small indent and give Momo a slightly bleeding hand.)

Kuso. Why can't I ever help those close to me when it matters the most?!

(And with that, Momo falls to her knees crying while pounding the ground and cursing in frustration.)
