As she usually does, in fact - people may have already started to grow accustomed to seeing her there, really. One wonders when the hell this woman sleeps, given the amount of time she spends there.

[She then looks at the cake with a certain curiosity. But she decides to accept it for what it is, and takes it with a nod]

In their defense, it would not be due to any ill will. But most people in the territories Galactic Federation do not believe I exist. It is always amusing when they find out. [Samus has a sense of humour? Though she's saying it as deadpanly as always...]

[Samus shakes her head]Indeed not. [Then she takes a spoonful of the cake]I must say, this is rather better than the usual food here.

Really, so you like a legend or a myth in Federation territories. You must enjoy proving that you do exist then.

[Ichitaka is going to take her 100% seriously.]

Well sometimes it's good to just eat something to enjoy yourself, even if you don't need it to survive. [With Samus liking it Ichitaka relaxes a bit more.] I'm glad you like it, Grandpa always said that Christmas cakes are best enjoyed on Christmas. They're a waste after the 25th.

Enjoy is perhaps not the word. It makes my job easier. Stunned criminals take longer to react, and sometimes they surrender without the need to fire a shot.

[She nods]And yes, sometimes food is meant to be enjoyed despite its non-necessity. It has just been very long since I did so.

[The last part, however, merits a shake of the head]If something is good, it is good. When does not make a difference.

Is it? A day is but that - a spin of a planet. Does how many have passed have any bearing, do you believe? Something that brings you joy simply does, and is worth of existing whenever.

A day can have meaning Samus, even if it is just a spin of a planet. I'm sure there are certain days that bring people joy also.

When something is enjoyed could affect how much you enjoy it as well.

To a planet, a day is merely like a beating of the heart to you. Something that is, but has no more significance than the continuation of existence. But it is the beings on it that make the mind of a planet, and so, things like days become important because we decide they are. We choose which day is important because some must be.

The greatest power of the sentient mind is to give a meaning, a reason to that which never had. It is our gift back to the planet that births us... [Samus smiles slightly] but that does not mean we should lose sight of the fact that we do so rather at random, rather than because of any inherent importance.

[She looks upwards. She seems to be in a good mood, as much as Samus's steely face lets one see emotions through] Used to have arguments on this with Old Bird so often. It is nostalgic.

[Not surprisingly Ichitaka is caught off guard by this and forgets his arguments. Despite that he seemed happy seeing that Samus actually showed some emotion around him.]
