Does it? I thought insomnia was when you couldn't get to sleep at all, and you'd spend hours trying to get to sleep only to sleep for a couple of hours? I'm able to get to sleep, just not until really really late, but I still sleep for eight hours (or more).

Ok, maybe not technically insomnia, but pretty darn close. First of all, you shouldn't let yourself sleep till noon even with going to bed so late. It just prolongs the problem.

When we landed in Israel it was 9am (after a 9.5 hour sleepless flight). Our guide wouldn't let us nap all day, and made us hike for 2 hours in the afternoon, so that we'd sleep that night and not be jet lagged. It worked. We all passed out after being awake for almost 2 days straight, woke up at 7am for breakfast, and not a single person had trouble sleeping during normal hours.

I know a few people who just prefer to get to sleep around 7 or 8 a.m. - back when I had little responsibility in life, I tried it out for awhile.

But yeah, it sucks.
