boy sees the carrot and runs
he finds himself a boy
in an older body and asks
am i still running
or i have i lost
lost sight of the assumed proverbial carrot
i have certainly lost ambition
only long enough to recognize
that it is lost and decide that that
is not for him
the not being the lost ambition
how long have i been gone
he asks himself
how long have i been runnin down
this wrong direction
there s no tellin
but sight
of what might be
sends him runnin again
sends him runnin
he don t know where he s going
but he ain t just gonna quit
for some reason
that is not an option
