Healesville smealesville.

So i happen to be in this Keeper Pool thing with Victoria's Three Zoos. As apart of it i'm supposed to get a small contract (1-3 months) as a Zoo Keeper.

Have been volunteering at Healesville for the past Month and a half with another girl called Carly (who works at the RS too) but she has only volunteered for two weeks (she called in sick on the third week).

So - last week i found out that Carly had been offered a one month contract at Healesville with the team she had been volunteering with for those two weeks.

I'm really happy for her - we've both been trying for ages to get a position anywhere - so its great that they offered her this position.

Today out of the blue i got a call from Healesville. I was offered a one month contract - part time in the food room. Looking after rats, mice, flies, cockroaches, crickets, maggots and helping to prepare food for all the Keepers.

It would be the last place i would want to work. It smells terrible and i think a large portion of the job would be helping kill all the rats and mice which is just bloody fantastic.
So now i'm rather upset because i don't want to accept it because it has nothing to do with being a Zoo Keeper in the slightest. But i feel that if i don't accept then i might not get to be part of the keeper pool anymore because i'm being too fussy.

And if i said yes then i would have to start next week, but i've got shifts at the RS (i'm doing most of Carly's shifts for the month that she is away) and i can't just say - i'm sorry but i can't do any of my shifts for the next 4 weeks because Healesville need me to cut up fruit.

And i'm starting not to like volunteering there too much anymore too because all they seem to do is have tea breaks and meetings. I sit around for so much of the day doing nothing. Its really boring alot of the time.

I don't know if being a zoo keeper is what i really want to do. I thought it was - i really enjoyed volunteering at Weribee. And working at healesville can be ok - if you're on the right team, or with someone who works hard (which isn't many of them unfortunantely).

I don't want to ruin my chances because i said no to working in a particular area - i think thats the main thing.

I mean - i would probably just at the chance to work on a proper zoo keeping round!

And the phonecall was so out of the blue! I didn't have a good reason to say no. EEP.

Maybe they wont want me to volunteer anymore!

That would be bad. Bad bad bad bad bad ... bad.

*nods*

Hopefully someone else accepts and i wont feel obliged to say yes maybe *eye squint*

I need some serious other job ideas.

Serious ones.

Help!
