Episode 1

Oct 11, 2006 12:07

After episodes 1, 2 & 3 of Northern Exposure, I’ve decided to move to Sicily, Alaska.
The incentives are many, including state funded medical scholarships, sincere thoughtful townsfolk, and a smoking hot land lord with 2nd season romance possibilities.

I digress.

I received a lot of feedback on my script, because people, for the most part, are great, and hopefully a 4th draft will come sometime over the weekend. Still don’t know whether to go with the inflatable gopher.

And today was production meeting # 1. Vickie had some good ideas about interest and fundraising, including keeping a “blog.” If anything, someone can follow along and read about my suffering through the film making process.

Intro: New York University: Advanced Production (with Prof. Katherine Lindberg). A class of 20 students will compete for the 10 available production allotments (allotments include Super 16 and Panasonic P2 card HVX-200 camera, G&E package, film stock, etc). Allotments will be distributed based on script quality and feasibility, production progress and presentation. The 10 students who are not selected are ejected from the class and will not return. Those that are selected continue on through May of 2007
to develop their production and shoot their film.

Current score: 2 people have dropped the class and one has self contained himself inside his room with both seasons 1 and 2 of Battlestar Galactica, a frighteningly familiar image.

Days until final presentations: 30

Today’s suffering: Justin’s Needs

-Close my SAG account from 6 months ago….so I can re-open one in 3 months…yeah
-Finalize a location (my entire room is plastered with highway, visitor’s center/sheriff station, & diner possibilities tacked to foam-core board) between Quad Cities Iowa, Mineral Point WI, Eagle River WI, Naples NY, Easton CT, Redding CT, and Eastport ID (so much that its beginning to compromise the fireplace mural that is my Star Wars: Battlefront II video game poster). Sacrifices.
-Land a second producer, because Chance had Sassy AND Shadow.
-$19,000
-My dad not to hit me when I say I need $1900
-a Director of Photography (earth), Asst. Cam (wind), Asst. Dir (fire), Prod. Designer (water), Art Dir. (heart), Harrison Ford (capt. Planet)

That’s just to get started. Budgets, insurance, copyright, hoe-tel rooms (ha…hoe-zone layer what what)…anyway, that’s episode one.

Stay Tuned - Website will be up soon with script, pictures, fake trailer, past films, crew list/bio’s, lame blog, and maybe even a lame video journal! (I’m a virgo, and Thursday nights are “Watch a Harrison Ford movie and drink 4 beers” nights).
This week: Mosquito Coast
