First Meeting of Caroline
I went with Jakrian and Velesti to the hot springs on Ice Mountain today. I also met Caroline, Phil, her "Uncle," and Yena, her aunt. Though I didn't really MEET him, I also saw the Myche with the blue fur and yellow spots that I saw at Minita's birthday party. I later learned he was named Kentrin. Apparently, Kentrin is something of a bodyguard for Velesti, and seemed quite upset when Velesti left North Tek without telling him.
Caroline is an Inhuman girl, and very cute. She looks mostly human, except she has a fluffy white tail. Sadly, she is also blind, although I didn't say anything about it. Yena was also there, and she played with Phil and Caroline in the water once we got to the hot springs. Caroline calls Phil her uncle, even though he is a Nikitak. This makes a blood relation impossible, but I think she does it out of endearment. For the most part, everyone except Velesti were playing around in the water. I was content to just take off my boots and soak my feet in the water the whole time.
I hadn't actually introduced myself to them yet, but I heard Caroline talking to Phil about how her father was a guard for a Nikitak named Cole. Normally, this wouldn't bother me. It was what she said after that was disturbing. She said that Cole offered her father money to "Have his way" with Caroline. Caroline, being only about 5 or 6 years old, had no idea what Cole really meant, and thought he just wanted to play a game or something with her.
During this time, Kentrin came along and was whispering back and forth with Velesti. Both of them were upset. Velesti because she heard what Caroline said about Cole, and Kentrin for Velesti sneaking out of North Tek. There were some more harsh whispers between them, and then Velesti went to another area of the springs, followed by Kentrin.
Soon after, everyone got out of the springs and proceeded to dry off and get dressed, except Jakrian. He had jumped into the springs fully clothed and simply wrung the water out of his clothes when he got out.
After Caroline had gotten dressed, I introduced myself to her and Phil and whispered to Phil that I would help with Cole any way that I could. He thanked me, and then Caroline hugged me from out of nowhere. I was surprised at first, but returned the embrace. I also took the chance to deposit some coins in on of the pockets on her dress. Looking back, I feel that I kind of introduced myself to her too quickly, like walking into a crowded place and just shouting out "Hi! Who wants to be my friend?".
I guess Velesti and Kentrin had gone back to North Tek by now, but the rest of us went to the Chuian Tree to help Caroline open a banking account with the money I gave her.
It was getting late in the day by now, and I was feeling pretty tired. So I said my goodbyes and went back to North Tek and went to sleep in the upper levels of the garden complex.
