lets try toleration...

so I saw something in the news a couple weeks ago that disturbed me then, and i can't stop thinking about it. it was just a little clip on the news about a kids show on PBS....about this bunny (Buster.....you know, from Arthur) and he travels around and shows kids things and places and stuff like that. well, there was one episode where little Buster goes and talks to kids who have gay and lesbian parents.....but, seeing as how this is American, we can NOT have that happening, now can we?! So miss secretary of Education Spelling told PBS to pull that episode because "parents would not want their kids subject to that kind of exposure" or some shit like that. What the fuck?! What kind of message is she trying to send to kids?! That we shouldn't learn about the lives of some of our fellow citizens who happen to have a different lifestyle than us (when really it isn't even all that different except for the gender of the person they are in love with)? That we should not be tolerant of gay and lesbian families? That the children of those parents should be ashamed that the people that love them the most are a discrace and should be kept in the closet (no pun intended)? It just makes me so mad that we can learn to live with and accept (if not love) our neighbors and the people that live in this country. And the children of today are the EXACT people we should be teaching to tolerate and learn about and accept people who are different from them, whether it be race, skin color, religion, or SEXUAL PREFERENCE. fuck. nescient people just piss me off.

....this isn't written out very well....but i got some of the steam out.......sometimes i just wish there was something i could do to make people realize that by doing this we are just spreading intolerance, and that is not acceptable, nor is it very conducive to our country's welfare because it will just lead to hatred....and that, my friends, is what tears nations apart
