Would you consider giving me the details (beginner's class times, location, costs anything else you think might be relevant...) on your dojo?
I'm feeling a little like I recall you feeling when you decided to go train. I'm fat and I'm not getting any younger. I want to do something I like in order to get less fat. You and Lee both speak very well of your school and so I'm thinking I might like to give it a go.
Seven breaths and all that. Also, the minimum sign up time is 3 months, so, if you keep showing up twice a week at least, you'll know by the time that's up.
Something I've always been curious about and it's kept me from any kind of martial training. My eyesight sucks ass without my glasses. Has your eyesight caused any significant problems with training?
I am pretty near sighted as you know. Basically, if we're doing something new, I wear my glasses. I have a sports strap for it to keep it on my face, but, there are a few people who always wear their glasses and don't even bother with a strap. I mean, wear ones that aren't going to upset you if they do break, but it's actually really rare that any of them do. I've never had a problem or see a problem since I've been there. Also, I would like to note that we have one student who shows up regularily and is legally blind. Even with glasses on he has almost no vision at all, and he trains with us, and has acheived a brown belt. I work with him sometimes, and he is legitamately good too. So, glasses, no problem.
Well, starting at the top, Yoshinkan Aikido is probably the least non-violent form. As far as authentic, Aikido is Aikido, it's not like some is less or more authentic. Gozo Shioda was Osensei's top student, and he was also the first to set up Aikido dojo's, even while Osensei was still alive. Opinion wise, I think the two best forms to study are Yoshinkai and Aikikai, but that's opinion only, and only based on what I'm looking for
