Robbing the Cradle: Part 1

Jan 18, 2007 16:51

First, I've been tagged for some sort of meme about movies, so, uh. Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to list 10 movies: your 5 Favorites & your 5 Guilty Pleasures. Then, pick 5 of your friends and tag them. No tag backs. Please keep in mind that I hardly ever watch movies ever, so my choices are rather limited.

Favourites
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Star Wars (the original trilogy)
The Emperor's New Groove (Shut up, it's good. I dare you to watch it and dislike it.)
Lord of the Rings (the entire trilogy)

Guilty Pleasures
Casino Royale (2006)
Austin Powers
Some Like It Hot
The Matrix (I can't decide if this should go in "Favourites" or "Guilty Pleasures," because on the one hand, it's an awesome awesome movie, but on the other hand, there are the sequels.
City Heat

I've been playing more Thief, and I gotta say, I'm really enjoying it. I'm not sure "enjoying" is the right word, because it's not really OMG FUN -- it's more, HOLY CRAP, PLOT, and also YAY SNEAKING. Also, "fun" doesn't really fit into my concept of Thief at the moment, considering I'm wandering around a little corner of Silent Hill that got separated from the rest of the town and migrated over to the City.

I'd known it was coming for at least a day now, and for some reason, I heard the word "cradle" used more times last night than is really comforting.

But, okay, it's not too bad yet. I have not encountered the Enemy, although I live in terror of the day I do. I was halfway convinced that as soon as I got the damn generator working again, it'd alert the Cradle to my presence and hordes of undead would start shambling their way over to me, so I delayed that until the last possible moment. Not that it mattered. And I just know that there's gonna be Enemies, 'cause it was in the mission briefing stats, and I feel so much secure in the cover of darkness WHY IS THERE LIGHT NOW GRAR.

Anyway! HOLY CRAP OMG THE -- THE ATTIC, AND THE LONG STAIRWAY, AND THE POUNDING ON THE DOOR OH GOD. After you climb that stairway to hell the attic, and it's so long and winding and then there's this pounding and I was worried something would come rolling down the stairs at me and then it stopped, so I bravely kept climbing, and then there it is. The door. And the pounding continues. And stops. And continues. So of course I tactically decided to wait until the pounding stopped, open the door and then have a fire arrow pointed at the devil's head.

Good thing it was just a portrait.

Just a portrait? Wait. Wait, wha --

DAMMIT, LAURYL, IF I DIDN'T LIKE DREPT SO MUCH YOU WOULD BE SCREWED AND LEFT TO HAUNT THE CRADLE FOREVER. And, uh, you know, if the mission would let me just leave without helping you out.

I am using humor to cover for the fact that holy crap I am so terrified every second I'm in the Cradle. And then in the storm cellar? And there is all the dripping and it sounds like someone's splashing around but no one's there and then the cage, and Lauryl saying, "Oh yeah, by the way, I wouldn't go in there if I were you. The Cradle will see you and never let you go." I am so curious now what would happen if I did go in there, and then I get terrified that I will have to later on in the mission.

At one point, I looked up and realized that the Cradle has amazing architecture. I mean -- this is supposed to be an orphanage, right? And an insane asylum. And yet, there's this gorgeous gothic lobby, with stained glass and arches and I had to make some icons. THEY ALL LOOK PRETTY MUCH THE SAME.

Anyway, I have to stop Cradle robbing for the day. I get to look forward to, you know, finding out what's beyond that portcullis thing tomorrow.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm sure everyone knows this already, but if you happen to take an icon, please comment and credit, blah blah etc. Much appreciated!
