Don't you just love it when you're halfway through a post and suddenly your Internet quits and your computer thinks you need to refresh the page you're writing a post in? Like. I am pretty sure I have been able to just have windows open in the past with no trouble, even when I'm not connected to the Internet. What gives, technology?
ANYWAY.
-- oh, hey, it asked if I wanted to restore my draft. THANK YOU, DW. I guess I will be less cranky now. But I am still using Notepad to write this entry.
I have been trying to stay away from any kind of sweetened drink recently, and as such, have re-discovered my stash of loose leaf tea. I also re-discovered David's Tea and may have persuaded
thebaconfat to go with me so I could pick out some new samples.
I got a bunch of different oolong teas, because next to green tea, it's my favorite tea to drink straight.
Yogi Berry - Meh. There were too many different flavors competing for my attention and it just sort of tasted like a mess. A hot, watery mess.
Organic The Skinny - Ehhh. It's. Not my favorite and I don't think I'll get it again, but I will finish off the rest of the bag. I think part of the problem is that it has pu'erh in it, and I find the taste of pu'erh kind of ...leathery and off-putting. *shrug*
Citron Oolong - It reminds me of the Coconut Oolong I tried a bit ago, but I like it better! It's very light with only a faint hint of lemon to it. It's a good refresher tea, I feel like, and even though I won't drink it often, I'd like to have a little bit around for when the mood strikes.
Bubbie's Baklava - I FUCKING LOVE THIS SHIT :O<< Bought a tin of it and am seriously considering going back to get another, because APPARENTLY it is going to be taken off the shelves soon.
I also got a few non-oolong teas!
Organic Blueberry Jam - Black tea as the base. I really liked this one. It had a nice, rich flavor but surprisingly wasn't sweet or overpowering.
Alpine Punch - Rooibos. I have a love-hate relationship with rooibos, where I... usually find it kind of weird in an unpleasant way, but I really like Alpine Punch, so I guess it has some uses. I think the almond cream flavoring is what really makes this for me. It kinda reminds me of cherry.
Cinnaberry - Rooibos. Cinnaberry. It's... pretty good? But not good enough to warrant getting again.
Licorice Twist - Herbal. It's pretty good! Not my favorite, but Baco really likes it. :D It has a pretty light, minty flavor to it with some faint fennel added in. I could see this being really good after an Indian meal.
And I re-stocked my supply of Organic The Glow (herbal) because it's a nice, warm flavor and good year-round.
AND THEN. I came home and started reading a new book called
Extra Virginity by Tom Mueller. It's about olive oil, and, uh, I have to confess I am reading it almost entirely for Shephard. It's actually well written, though, even if I'm a little perplexed by the author's sensual obsession with it. But, uh, reading it reminded me that I have a year-old bottle of real extra virgin olive oil in the cupboard, which at the time I only bought because I had a coupon and a curiosity. It turned out that I didn't really ...like the taste at the time?
But I decided to give it another shot. Literally, I poured a little bit of my real EVOO into a shot glass and took a little sip and OH MY GOD. Oh my god. Amazing. And my balasmic vinegar was still good, too, and I drizzled a little of both onto some lettuce + spinach and devoured two plates. I may have a new problem.
I don't know how to end this post.
