Title: I Didn't Wish You Well
(The Churchills lyric, provided by softbrowneyes)
Genre: Het
Pairing/Characters: Elliot/Olivia, Elliot/Kathy
Length: 162 words
Spoilers: general season 6/7 spoiler
Olivia can’t help beating herself up a little. It is an old, well-established habit, and the odds aren’t good that she’ll break it - especially now, when she really deserves it.
She knows she should be there for him - at least she should offer. Whatever else he may be, Elliot is an old friend. He’s going through a difficult time, and she ought to be acting like a friend. But she isn’t.
Olivia doesn’t talk to him about his marital crisis, and if he brings it up, she changes the subject. She rationalizes - like he does - that it’s The Job that’s wrecking his marriage, but what she really believes is that he’s hers more hours of the day than he’s Kathy’s. She doesn’t blame Kathy for making him choose.
Operating on the ‘if you don’t have something nice to say’ principle, she just refuses to discuss it with him. She knows he’s still trying to patch things up. She doesn’t wish him well.
