Hello again faithful readers (meaning, probably just Jackie and Scott). Sorry I had a sort of mini-vacation. . . I was going to update a few days after my last ramblings but then Brian showed up. . . hehe :)
Anywho, so I don't remember what I last talked about. *pulls up latest entry. . . *
Ah. Ok. Well, you guys are pretty much caught up in my life. I'm still working at this awesome desk job, however it does get boring from time-to-time. Apparently I'm not allowed to use the tv behind the desk anymore (I guess Chief decided that Dancing with the Stars wasn't appropriate for visitors to watch. Wait -- I work after hours. WHAT visitors?! *shakes fist*) Oh well.
So my last update was on the 26th of April. Nothing much had passed that week and voila! Brian flew back from Iraq for his midtour leave on May 2nd. It was so very nice to have him here; it seemed like we were actually married for 17 days! I had a spouse spur ride (basically a cavalry tradition for spouses to do this sort of "a day in your husband's shoes" kinda spiff, since the guys have a few-day long spur ride to get their spurs [legit spurs btw]). It was neat; Alora and I decided to sign-up together just for something to do and have fun. We did PT, a tank/Bradley simulation (our favorite thing of the day), a land-navigation course and road march, lunch, obstacle course, and M-16 simulation. It was pretty neat, and I got a little spur charm and a pretty certificate out of the whole day.
That weekend Brian and I decided to go to San Antonio just to have some alone time since we had people and pets back in Killeen. It was nice; we stayed at the Emily Rose hotel which is right next to the Alamo. After sight-seeing there, we went into the RiverCentre mall to eat and walk around, then back to the hotel for a pre-dinner nap. We saw this neat movie called, Legends of Flight which was about the new Boeing 787 and how they were using technology from older airplanes and specific birds at the Imax theatre, then went to have a riverwalk boat tour and ate dinner at the Rainforest cafe before hitting up a pub. Then we went to SeaWorld the next day and that was a disappointment. I mean it was free for us to get in since we're military, but the only things you could see were sharks, penguins, fish...yeah. I wanted to see the Orca tanks under the stands and what not like at the Miami Seaquarium, but NOOOO you can't do that at SeaWorld. So blegh.
Other than that, he just chilled at home. We went shooting twice, to get me used to handling pistols incase of emergency and if I decide on getting my concealed handgun license. We also bought a .22 Browning long rifle (type of pistol) and it was pretty fun to shoot since it has about no recoil. I'm trying to get more used to our Keltec .380 but hmmph. Better than the Keltec PF9 that he carries. . . that thing felt like it was going to break my wrist. It was also neat because when we were at Academy buying the .22, the sales person guy dude taught me how to properly chamber a pistol because I was having all sorts of issues, and his method worked! So I'm forever thankful to that guy.
Hmm, also some gay-ass drama happened whilst Brian was in town. Remember how I was always hanging out with Alora? Well Cody (my neighbor and friend of Brian's -- he used to be in the same platoon as Brian and is MARRIED) and us had a bbq one day and we met one of his NCOs. . . Leevon. Leevon was pretty chill -- recently divorced, has 4 dogs (yay Hamlet has friends!), and a house (yay yard! yay washer and dryer! yay hose to wash car! yay satellite tv! get where this is going?). Well, we all became good friends. Leevon and I just got along because 1. we're the same age so it's nice to talk to someone more mature than some 19-year old kids and 2. we love cars. Anywho, Alora and I told a couple of our army wife "friends" that we were hanging with him and Cody a lot on the weekends and such (yes, we drank there a couple of times but I didn't get drunk or anything. And Alora and I used his ginormous bathtub to take a nice bath together [in our bikinis]). . . yeah you catch my drift. ANYWAYS, so it got to their husbands who decided to tell Brian that Alora and I are "partying it up", "getting drunk every weekend", "acting crazy and hanging out with these two random guys who were taking our bikinis off". . .yeah. So on and so forth. One of the guys decided to skype-call Brian two Thursdays ago and tell him, then the next thing I know Brian walks through the front door and confronts me about all of this. Needless to say, I got really upset.
First of all, yes we did hang out. Leevon may be recently divorced but I made it LOUD AND CLEAR that IF he ever laid an unwanted hand on me he would be SMACKED HARDER THAN HE HAS EVER BEEN. Not to mention that would be the end of our association. Second of all, yes Alora and I have been in showers twice. In bikinis. Once after the pool and once after a bath. Not scandalous at all, just rinsing. Really people? Third of all, I MAYBE drank at Leevon's twice, both times not even getting a buzz. Fourthly, the two random guys? LEEVON AND CODY. Seriously people. Keep your damn opinions to yourselves and if you have a problem with any of it, talk with me first to clarify and express your issues instead of blabbing to your husbands who will tell my husband and make it look like I'm sleeping with these two people instead of being a good wife. I tell Brian everything I do, wherever I go, whomever I'm with. He told me all of this, I told him my side and what happened, and he's happy. But now I am very pissed with two certain females and will probably confront them the next time I see them. Yes, I understand it was my fault for letting this situation occur and the two soldiers were just looking out for a friend (since spouses cheat a lot when their husband/wife is overseas), but I told two people who I thought were friends and I could trust, not to mention when we were talking they didn't seem to have any problems with anything I was saying. Cody even told Brian everything that happened when he was around and agreed that nothing spectacular was going on. So I admitted to Brian I should have never had this happen and Leevon and I are no longer friends. It's just frustrating that shit like this can happen because people are gay.
Other than that issue that lasted about half of the day, his leave was wonderful. It was nice to have him sleeping soundly next to me in bed (stealing covers and planning a bed-attack with Hamlet. . . bed hogs). It was so nice to cuddle with him when it was raining, or have him bring me dinner when I forgot mine because he was chasing me around the apartment, watch Top Gear together on the couch. . . *sigh* can't you tell I'm ready for him to come back? Lol. Only a few more months :)
But anyways, I've just been working and keeping to myself since he left later last week. Memorial day is coming up and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if I'm just sitting on my couch all weekend. Alora mentioned something about a rodeo this weekend, but I'll pass. My friend, Joe (his wife just left for Iraq the day after Brian left) invited me over for a bbq. I dunno.
Also this rodeo bit and watching Eat Pray Love reminds me that I had a serious thought last night -- I really don't have anything in common with anyone around here or Brian's army friends. Seriously!
Alora wants to go to this rodeo this weekend. She dragged me once before during the Bell County Fair and it was. . .meh. Not again. She's from the country in Wisconsin -- she even barrell races. Loves tanning booths, manicures and pedicures, rodeos, country music. Yeah. Leevon is from Iowa, so he likes dirt track racing (I do only to watch the cars break and guess what happened), rodeos, country music, etc. Well, don't hang out or talk to him anymore so nevermind him. Cody is from Oklahoma, he also is from the country. Likes guns, hunting, football, cars, country music. Same as his wife Ariel, but she's more down-to-earth and less girly than Alora. Brian's friends: Jessica & Mitch, Jessie & Jason, are all from the country and want to live in the country. All go hunting. All wear cowboy boots probably at some point. All like guns and hunting. All mostly listen to country music. All smoke and drink beer.
Um, yeah I'll pass. I'd wear stillettos over cowboy boots any given day in my life. I hate hunting -- the thought of killing an animal for sport is totally LAME. I only warmed up to the thought of guns to take care and protect myself in a dangerous situation. I'd like for Brian to have his concealed weapon, me to have mine, and a gun for both of us to practice and have fun with at the range. No more.
I also LOATHE country music. The twang just annoys me and all the songs seem the same to me. Yes I do have a few I like, but still. I also am not from the country. I used to live in two suburbs of a city of many cultures and languages and never freaking sleeps. I miss it actually -- music playing everywhere, pastelitos, the fact that everyone dresses to impress even to go to the grocery store, the fast pace, the fact that you can drive somewhere late and night and see crowds somewhere. . . etc. I miss the city, the lights, the expensive/nice/fast cars everywhere. . . yeah I didn't think I would miss all of that. I'd take that over being here. Here it's just everyone from everywhere is crammed into one city and the city officials can't keep up with the influx of people, also backed by the notion that you're in Texas now, the greatest state in the south. Shoot me, please.
Granted I do like watching football, but not religiously. I love cars, I grew up that way because of my dad. I hate rodeos. . . poor bulls. I hate tanning beds. . . I noticed many southern or country girls tan. What the hell is the point of paying money to go into a discusting booth to get fried? It's been proved on The Doctor's (my favorite daytime show now; blame it on the 9 channels I get on my antenna) that a tanning booth has more germs and bacteria than the bottom of your shoe or a doorhandle at a public restroom. EW. If you wanna get tanned, go outside. The sun will tan you for FREE! Amazing concept. Oh, and I hate smoking. Given from the fact my parents have been smoking since they were teens and the reason I have asthma. And beer. . . ew. I like mixed drinks. Especially long islands. Whenever Brian and I do settle in a certain town or state, we don't want to live in the country persay. We agreed to live on the outskirts of a city, close enough to the local entertainment, shopping destinations, etc. but be far enough from the daily hustle-and-bustle.
So I hope you readers noticed something? I am a city girl at heart, stuck in a state where the mindset is to live it up in the country. I am completely out of my comfort-zone, and have nothing largely in common with everyone I know. Sure I get along with everyone and hang out with Cody/Ariel and Alora, but that's because we have smaller things in common. It's weird. I can't wait for Washington because it seems that I feel like I fit in up there more. There's more outdoorsy people, city people, and there's more stuff to DO and see. I already get along very well with most of Brian's friends just because we see more eye-to-eye on things. Life. The outdoors. Hence why we get up there I want to get into hiking and backpacking because you can DO that up there! (Granted, with a bit of practice to train my body to go up in elevation and walk long distances).
Plus, when I ranted to Brian about this all last night he came up with one conclusion -- he doesn't have to share me really anymore. I just laughed haha. He can be a butt sometimes but he sure has changed and grown up. Gods I love him :)
Oh and before I end, I had another nuts idea. I told Ruthmarie (yes, we still talk a lot and are still BFFs) that the next time our paths cross, we need to get matching tattoos because she's the closest thing I have to a sister and it seemed appropriate at the time. Now we just have to figure out what and where lol. She likes the left wrist and lower back/love-handle area. I like on the back of the neck (probably below my pisces sign) or the inner ankle. She had an idea of doing a peacock feather, and had the idea of a sunflower.
Anyways, what do you all think? Am I nuts for having this relevation/rant/whatever-you-may-call-it ever so suddenly?
