So now Brian and I are in Crescent City, CA. . . which is right on the border of California and Oregon. We've had an awesome drive so far. . .especially after Texas and the eastern portion of New Mexico haha. We stayed in Flagstaff our first night (previous post) and when we woke up to leave at around 5:15 the next morning it was seven degrees. WTF. . . it's ARIZONA [but we were like 7500 ft up but still]. Then we drove. . . the Mojave desert was pretty neat with a bunch of rocks and steep cliffs. We eventually got into California aaaand well, THEY HAVE INSPECTIONS. Yeah. Retarded.

About 5 miles after we crosses the border into Cali we had to stop at some toll booth looking thing for them to ask us if we had any fruits and veggies or animals with us. Are they too good for my Florida Oranges? Still retarded but oh well. Then we stopped in Barstow, California for some lunch and gas. I have a cold sore or prolly bit the crap out of my right cheek so when I had to eat my sandwich from Subway I had to cut it with a fork and knife...yeah. I'm also fighting some gay allergies that make the icky stuff wanna travel to my chest...bastard body of mine *shake fist*

So then I drove to about 40 miles from San Francisco. . . .passed some more desert, pretty neat hills and mountains, wineries, etc. We eventually got into San Francisco about 7 p.m. [after rush hour thank god] and went over the Golden Gate Bridge :) We even got to go through the city for a little bit -- it's so cute! The houses look really neat with their bay windows [think Full House here kids] and their many one-way streets and hills. I even saw a trolley! But yeah, the incline of the hills is insane. . . we were travelling down the hill to get to the bridge and I swear we were sitting at a 60 degree angle at least. It was nuts. But, the Golden Gate Bridge was better than I had imagined! The second Bay Bridge is similar in structure but the orange of the Golden Gate Bridge as well as size give it a huge contrast. Not to mention it cost $4 to go on the Bay Bridge but not Golden Gate Bridge. . . Anyways, so we travelled about 45 minutes from San Francisco to Santa Rosa and checked into our hotel. Clem met us there and took us to dinner -- at In-n-Out! I was so excited when we pulled into the parking lot because I kept hearing from Beth and everyone who had been to one that their burgers were amazing! And guess what. . . it was! The food was really yummy [even if I did have to eat it with a fork and knife haha]. Then, I crashed. Hardcore. Needed sleep.

So today Brian and I drove to more Northern California. . .through the Redwoods and past wine country [amazing scenery fyi]! I think today was our best day so far [regardless of the rain] because we only had to drive about six hours so we got to stop off at some little parks and anywhere we felt like it. So we drove through Redwood National Park and Humboldt/Redwood National Park and stopped at the respective Visitor's Centers. . . really neat. Those trees are fricken huge dude, like wtf. They even had baby trees; I wanted to buy one haha but it wouldn't live too well in Florida haha. From there we kept driving north on 101 and eventually got to the coast where I saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time! It was awesome! [prolly cause the waves were nuts dude]. And...I saw an elk! [specifically male] it was pretty neat -- about the size of a horse with some antlers thrown on its head haha.

The drive itself was worth it, I highly recommend taking 101 on the west coast. . .it's some winding roads in certain aspects but you see so much of the state it's insane. And the typical driving on the coast about 100 feet from the crashing ocean below you? Doesn't happen until about 20 miles south of Crescent City :-P Was awesome though; took some really neat photos of the ocean and such. So now we're here in Crescent City with another eight hour drive ahead of us tomorrow and we'll be in Washington. The weather is supposed to be more shitty than today's but oh well. . . wish us luck! Need to watch Charlie Brown now :-P
