So this weekend was busy! We left on the 5:52 train Sunday morning to get to Osaka by 7:30 to meet the WhyNot?! tour group. Then we headed down to Tokushima by bus, and got there a little after 12. Then white water rafting down the Yoshinogawa, the longest river in Japan (or, er, one of them). That was hella fun! We had 8 boats, and most of the time we spent splashing each other or playing games in calm water. Also, jumping off a 3 meter tall rock.
After rafting was a BBQ. We were staying at an old elementary school. Like, old. There were only two floors and I think at max they had all of 12 students, so grades shared rooms. Yoko said it was haunted, and this being Japan, I wouldn't be surprised. So, BBQ, and people getting ridiculously drunk, and we had a dodgeball game in the courtyard area.
Sunday morning we left at 8:30 to go down to the Kazura Bridge, one of the 3 famous bridges of Japan. It's made old skool style with twisted vines, although this one is supported with steel cord as well. I won't lie, I was terrified. We crossed a river, and the wooden slats were far enough apart that my foot easily could have slid between them. After that terrifying experience, we went down to play at the river a bit, then headed out again for a "highway oasis" where there was a public bath we could use. Oh my gosh it felt nice to shower, and the baths were nice. They even had an outdoor section~
After that we finally went to the Naruto Whirlpools. They're pretty cool, although not like how you'd usually think of a whirlpool. Sometimes you see the spiral, but it's mostly churning water and rapids in the ocean. It was cool seeing another tour boat ride the whirlpools, though. I hadn't realised the same had happened to us.
Then it was back home, and today is work. Good times!
