So, some help from my language savvy flisters?
I told my teacher today that there's no difference in politeness between "will" and "can," and that they mean basically the same thing (Will you help me? vs Can you help me?), but that the feeling is different. "Will" has more of a command feel while "can" has more of a request one. Is that true?
He asked because on the test the students were supposed to use "will" and "would" as an answer to one of the questions, with the second being more polite. Some put "can" and "will." Was I right to say there's no politeness difference and that they're kinda the same but not?
