Byakuya had assisted in the evacuation of the more unruly Ravenclaws, his impassive face quelling most arguments, and his lack of hesitation in taking points from his own House doing the rest.

Wand in hand, he took up a position next to the main doors. While the subject he taught did not involve any practical magic, that had no bearing on Byakuya's skill as a wizard.

Being summoned from her hut, she thought she was done for the night after feeding and checking on all the animals around the hut. June had already had quite a bit of alcohol. It showed when she strode in and placed herself next to Byakuya. Although she had a great constitution and would need far more in order to start slurring words or losing coordination, she had not slept for a while and was feeling tension from the entire situation.

"Kuchiki, right?" June inquired as she turned her head to look past Byakuya's hair and into his eyes. She smirked at him, waiting for a reply.

Byakuya shut his eyes for a brief moment, as if fortifying himself against June's presence. Briefly he wondered what it was about him that seemed to be attracting inebriated women as of late, before turning a blank, slightly superior look towards the gamekeeper. His encounter with Shalice had not left him well-disposed to dealing with the human species in general.

"Indeed," he replied flatly. "You are the gamekeeper." It was not a question.

June pouted at his dismissive behavior. "Yes, I am. June...umm..." June flustered herself for a moment. She had to come up with a last name to counter his pretentiousness. Come on...think, June. "Hunter! I mean, June Hunter." She grew with pride for her quickness.

Byakuya returned the majority of his attention to the door. "I have not heard of the Hunter family before," he informed her. The superior tone had vanished - there was no point in expending so much effort.

Kristoph was a wanderer tonight and as such, he would be in many places over the course of the time spent here. At the moment, his attention was captured by two people, one of whom he recognized from his days as a student here.

Walking up amiably, the Wizarding Law professor offered both of them a smile. "Quite the exciting night." It was a statement, though an interesting one to go along with the smile on his face.

June was about to rebut the statement from the tall Ravenclaw by the door, but she was interrupted in her defense by the new tall Ravenclaw approaching them both. "Definitely...I don't know too much, but it seems there is some alarm. You would think a pack of wild chocobos stormed through here...who are you again? Sorry, I still haven't met everyone here."

She figured that her most proper behavior (yes, that's her most proper behavioro) was due in order to get as close to those who seemed to know the most as possible.

Byakuya's expression tightened infinitesimally at the approach of Kristoph Gavin. There was a man he did not like, trust, or appreciate in any way shape of form.

"Exciting is not the word I would choose to use," Byakuya replied coolly. "Good evening, Professor Gavin."

Kristoph's arms folded across his chest even as he graced them with a smile. "You would think," he murmured, agreeing with the woman, June he thought was her name. "Kristoph Gavin, Professor of Wizarding Law here."

His attention turned to his former Housemate then and the expression chilled, even though the smile was still in place. He had never been fond of Byakuya, but of course he would never say that. "Then what would you call it, Professor Kuchiki?" Kristoph asked amiably, not showing even a hint of his distaste for the other man.

June noticed the tension between Professors Gavin and Byakuya. She thought it would be best to leave while she had the opportunity.

"Nice meeting you, Professor Gavin. I think I'm gonna go see how some of the kids are doing. See you later, Br-"

As much as she wanted to call Byakuya "Broody Body," she decided it best to address him by his name and then leave them to discuss the matters between them. I'm a bounty hunter, not an idiot.

Byakuya inclined his head very slightly to the woman as she left. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched the look on Gavin's face chill. There was nothing particularly obvious about the change in expression, but Byakuya noticed the faint hints.

"An irritant, Professor Gavin," he replied, tone dully blank as ever.

didn't mean to scare you off, June D8 atroquininelie March 31 2009, 03:38:14 UTC
Kristoph's expression remained the same, though his gaze crossed over to rest on June for a moment. "Yourself as well," he told her before returning his attention to Byakuya. In all honesty, his intention hadn't been to scare her off, if that was indeed what had happened. However, he wasn't going to request that she stay with them, particularly not when it was clear what kind of atmosphere would be hanging around the two men for the duration of their talk.

"A simple irritant?" came the answering question as Kristoph shifted his weight slightly and moved to adjust his glasses. His tone was carefully neutral, tinged with the slightest hint of interest, though whether it was real or faked was anyone's guess. "Nothing more?"

Byakuya glanced sideways at his former room mate before returning his gaze to his duty - the door.

"When it has proven itself otherwise, perhaps I shall call it something different," Byakuya replied coolly, not looking at the other man. "Until then, however, yes. A simple irritant, and nothing more."

Ah Kuchiki. As avoidant as ever, Kristoph noted with an inwardly knowing smile. None of his thoughts showed on his face, however, and he remained carefully controlled as he watched his former Housemate. The man was doing an admirable job of guarding, that was for sure.

"Then perhaps I shouldn't bother you, lest I become your next irritant." His tone of voice and the expression he offered Kuchiki then was teasing, quite nearly friendly. In no way was he fishing for a compliment to the contrary. That just wasn't Kristoph's way and anyone who knew him at all would know that. "You seem to have enough on your plate already."

Whether that meant Byakuya was just busy or incompetent was anyone's guess.

Shalice was quite sure there was no one in the entire world she wanted to see less at this very moment than Byakuya. And he was right in front of her.

She intended to walk right past him, nose in the air, pulling her short silk robe down to cover a bit more leg and to disguise the frills from her lacy lingerie, but as she stepped around a group of students to pass him, her fuzzy lion slippers roared.

"Damn lions!" she yelled, flushing. She wished a quieter pair had been on hand as she rushed out of her room to answer the Headmaster's call for help, but it had been the lion slippers or nothing, and Shalice didn't fancy the idea of running around on the cold stone floors in her bare feet.

She sighed. It seemed none of her dignity would be spared tonight. She turned to Byakuya, eyes narrowed. "What are you looking at?" It didn't matter that Byakuya had possibly not been looking in her direction at all, but ever since he'd escorted her to her room in her inebriated state, she'd been in no mood to be kind to him. Not that he'd done ( ... )

Byakuya was quite sure there was no one in the entire world he wanted to see more less than Shalice. And she was right in front of him.

He didn't think she was quite aware of his presence, too concerned with her apparel. As well she should be. There were several appropriate manners for dressing for school; Shalice had obviously missed that memo. Byakuya trained his eyes elsewhere as she stalked passed - for his own sake, of course. Nothing to do with her own dubious modesty.

He, of course, was perfectly dressed in his every day robes, subtle and expensive.

Then her ridiculous slippers roared of all things, and, faintly startled (although he'd never, EVER admit it), he turned his head slightly to blink at her just as she narrowed her eyes at him.

A pause, as he processed her demand.

"Nothing," he replied coolly, attempting to return his attention to his post. She stood there in the corner of his vision like some ostentatious - firework or something.

OOC: Flustered Byakuya is flustered :P Omnomnomleg.
