Iroh immediately stationed himself at one of the doors. No one could get by him as he darted eyes back and forth for anything out of the blue. His stance was staunch and militaristic. It seems like my previous line of work is not too unusual for Hogwarts.

Winry stumbled into the Great Hall - she'd been in the Room of Requirement working on her automail again, and as such had missed the original round up. She wsa bone-tired and confused, and had been looking forward to collapsing onto her nice, soft bed only to find out all students were being directed to the Great Hall.

She slumped against the door once she was in there and grumbled under her breath a little, eyes closed.

Iroh noticed Winry slowly slump into the hall. While still maintaining a close eye on the entire population in front of him, Iroh came to Winry's side and helped her stand straight while still leaning against the wall. "Easy...are you okay, Winry? You look ill, more than the rest of the students."

"Hmm?" Winry took a moment before opening her eyes. "O-oh, Professor Iroh!" She gave him a tired smile. "N-o, I'm fine," she replied, a yawn punctuating her words. "Just tired. Been working on automail. Runes," she added. "I've been experimenting. It's hard, because I don't have that much experience with them." She yawned again. "Wh-at's going on?"

Iroh smiled to her. "Winry...please find the time to rest. That's my main assignment to you. I know your personal dedication to Ancient Runes, so barring some unusual activity from your end, your OWL will be very high. Please, take care of yourself before your ambitions."

Iroh looked around the hall again, hoping that nothing would transpire from the evacuations. "Nothing specific has come to the attention of the staff, but evacuation of the dormitories and halls was deemed the best order of action given the scenario understood by the high powers of the school." Iroh eyed Winry's reaction to his formal tone. "I mean...no one knows yet. Stay patient and I'm sure more will come to light."

"O-oh, no!" Winry protested. "I do this all the time. Really, it's my thing. Well, not staying up late, but staying up late working on automail." She perked up a little, a shine coming to her eyes at the mention of her passion.

Despite this sudden energy burst, however, she was still tired enough that Iroh's words made no sense to her until he repeated himself more plainly. "No one knows, but we're all in here?" Winry echoed, confused.

"Well, do what you love, Miss Winry. Still, you know that your studies come before your personal activities. I certainly do appreciate your application of my lessons, though." Iroh smiled to her, making sure he was still a teacher during times where his previous profession has taken prevalence in his mind.

"It seems that in order to find out what is happening, we must all watch over one another. It will help in identifying whatever may be occurring. I would rather encounter it out there when there is no chance of harming any one else." Iroh looked as though he truly wished to go against whatever was the cause of the chaos.

Winry gave the old man a wider smile. He really was one of her favourite professors. "My studies are what I love," she told him. "The ones that are to do with automail, at least. I'm not such a fan of Potions." She wrinkled her nose. "But I only need to qualify in Charms, Transfiguration and Arithmancy. Everything else is more an interest than anything else...although if it improves my automail..."

Yep. Definitely feeling more awake now.

A frown crossed her face. "But...we don't know what it is, right? Wouldn't it be better to find out more about what's going on before haring off on your own?" Has she been a little less tired, she probably would not have been so blunt.

"I will surely put in a word with any professors I have gotten to know in those areas to see that you are given enough time to work on your automail." Iroh assured her.

"For those same questions, we have found holding the students in the Great Hall the best option. It would be far more appropriate if an experienced staff member were to see to it than a student with less knowledge of what could be happening."

"Oh, n-no, you don't have to--" Winry cut off her protest abruptly to consider. "...Actually, that would be really good."

She frowned slightly. "I still wouldn't think it would be a good idea to go on your own though," she told him. "Especially if it's bad enough that all the students have to be kept out of the way."

"Glad to help, Miss Rockbell." Iroh offered.

His face became stern as he looked out again for anything suspicious. "Firstly, I have seen quite a bit of my life. There are not many surprises left. This would be a welcome opportunity for me to observe something new with great previous knowledge or to eradicate a problem that I have previously worked through to protect my friends and family. "

"Secondly, students are kept out of the way for their protection. We would not be good teachers if we did not care about what happens to you."
