In retrospect, maybe seeing Mitani hadn't been such a good idea. Al had thought that since the guy was dating Brother and all, that he'd actually CARE about what happened to his boyfriend. Apparently not. The redhead had refused to play any part in helping Ed, and he didn't seem to have any interest in anything that Al or Sakura had to say. This both shocked and angered Al, but he didn't really have time to deal with those feelings now. His brother needed help, and Al was going to do whatever he could for him. Besides, he figured Rangiku probably had her hands full by now.
He knocked on the door to the Charms classroom and opened the door warily. "Hello?" he called. He and Sakura were holding hands loosely as they came in the room. Al spotted the dummy and smiled a little. Clearly Rangiku had listened to him, and that made him feel good. He was glad he was able to help, in a way, before he was able to be there himself.
Sakura followed Al into the room, a step behind him. She wasn't entirely certain of her right to be there, but Al had asked her, and she was hardly going to say no.
Unlike Mitani. Sakura was sort of feeling the urge to hit him.
The way Ed was talking was making Rangiku's heart break a little for him. Eyes grave, she gently took his automail hand. "Ne, Ed..." she breathed. "It's not ugly. It's part of who you are, Ed, and you're not an ugly person. You're Ed. You're a genius Potions master whose swearing could outdo mine any night of the week." She offered him a smile.
Realising the others' entrance, she looked over her shoulder. "Al! Sakura!" Her brow furrowed as she noted Mitani's absence, glancing at Al but not bringing the matter up."I'm glad you made it."
That was actually quite the compliment which made Edward blush a little. He jumped a bit at their entrance and his eyes narrowed a little.
He wasn't sure how he felt about his brother hearing any of this considering how he was. "Al, Sakura." He greeted, a little tense, but he wasn't openly hostile to them.
Sakura smiled at Professor Rangiku. "It was no trouble, Professor." She looked over at Ed, but following Al's cue, didn't step closer. Instead, she gave him a small wave. "Ed," she said simply.
She caught sight of the dummy, and blinked, cocking her head to one side. "Confringo?" she asked curiously, noting the spell residue. She figured it was as safe a place as any to start the conversation from after their intrusion.
She nodded at Sakura's question. "Yep! Ed got a good start on it earlier."
Rangiku noted the way Ed tensed, and for a moment wondered if she had made the right decision. It had to be, though. Al was family, and he'd be better support than anyone else for Ed. If he trusted Sakura to be here, then her place wasn't even questionable. "I hope you don't mind," she started, turning back to Ed with a smile. "Your brother and Sakura were worried, and stuff like this is hard. You need your friends around, you know?"
"I guess so." Edward knew he looked rather haggard, he knew it. He played with his braid absently. He didn't like Al to see weakness, not from him, not when he was supposed to be looking after him.
He ducked his head a bit. "I'm not good at charms, I'm getting remedial help in spellcasting. I mean, I'm good, I can write really good essays, but I'm not so good at casting."
"That makes sense," Al nodded. "You're not naturally left handed, so you're still kind of... fighting it, I guess. Because you have to mentally flip everything that your body wants to do. Or, well, something like that anyway."
He quite abruptly realized he was rambling and shut up, blushing. "Yeah, sorry."
Sakura squeezed Al's hand briefly. "No, you're right." And then she stopped herself there, because Charms was her favourite subject, and expounding upon it was really not what she'd come there to do.
She blinked over at Ed. "Casting? I could help you with that, if you wanted. Well, you've already got Professor Rangiku on the job, but I'm up for a practice if you want," she offered, wishing she'd known sooner.
Nodding her agreement, Rangiku smiled at Al's miniature ramble and the small motion that passed between him and Sakura. They made a cute couple, she mused, possibly for the hundredth time, before returning her full attention to Ed.
"Sakura's good," she noted to Ed. "And she takes far less naps then me, so it might be easier to get some practice in," Rangiku added, only slightly seriously. Her expression became a touch more serious as she watched Ed. "Everyone just wants to help, you know? There's a whole cue of people wanting to back you up."
"I'm not so weak as to be unable to do it myself." Edward said frowning. "I just have to work at it." He tugged at his braid absently, apparently a habit when he was unnerved. "I'm perfectly capable of casting spells."
"Nobody said you weren't capable, Brother, just that you could use some practice. That's all." Al said. "I wish you'd said something, we could've been practicing movements and stuff over the summer. I didn't even think about the left hand thing until just now..."
Sakura considered Ed. "I don't think it's weak. Not being able to do something on your own, or without practice, I mean." She paused. "You're allowed to ask people for help, you know? It doesn't make you any less of a person."
Brushing her hair out of her face, Rangiku let the speak first. "They're right, you know."
A hand strayed up to play with the necklace that rested across her collarbones. "This isn't about weakness. It's about helping each other and making it easier." Make it easier: the Rangiku Matsumoto philosophy.
"It doesn't have to be easier. It's just a stupid class!" Edward's temper was as short as ever and while he didn't mind too terribly that they were there, he didn't seem happy about it. Just because he was embarrassed.

"Brother," he greeted Ed back. He noted how Ed stiffened up and resisted the urge to come closer, knowing that wouldn't help any right then.
