Naruto'd practiced how to smile in the mirror so many times he thought his face might fall off, but it still wasn't working. He tried again for Pallas' sake, and then when his eyes hurt from scrunching them up, he stopped and just tried to curl up one corner of his mouth.
Entering the library, Naruto ghosted past the askew desks and chairs, making his way over to the giggling.
Whatever the reasoning was for Naruto's trouble smiling, Pallas was the one to help bring it out. Or tear it down. Either way, she was there, sitting in the library waiting for the fellow trickster to appear. Upon spotting the head of blond hair approaching, the girl stood up, grinning and waving enthusiastically. She wouldn't tell him about the floor tiles. If the bears got him, that was his problem. "Hi Naruto!"
"Yes!" With that, the blue-haired moved around the table, disregarding the appropriate steps upon the floor. In her hand, she held a small bag much like everyone had received. The hearts were blank. She didn't know why they were blank, but they just were and the headmaster was sort of dodgy with giving explanations. He was such a weirdo.
Pallas opened the bag and held it out to Naruto. "Take one!"
"O-okay?" Innocently, Naruto reached out a hand to pick one out of the bag.
A green one, and as soon as he touched it, spidery writing began to almost spurt out of the surface.
...Then again, it was candy. He ate it, his eyes closing peaceful in a glow of contentment at the sugar.
"Thanks, Pallas. Ehh...I didn't bring any of my own hearts, so just wait a bit, I'll send a clone..." he trailed off, muttering his required spell when a clone popped into existence and headed out of the library at top speed.
"So, uh, 've you been practicing the clone spell as well?"
The clone spell was one she especially favored. It allowed her to do two things at once, like borrow things from people while talking to them, and other little things. She had not yet explored the full uses of the spell, but it was coming along nicely. She wanted to try making two at once soon. That would be even more fun. But would that make it PallaPallaPalla?
"PallaPalla has practiced a lot!" She offered him another heart. Really, if they were gong to turn him into something weird it should happen quickly. Why did the headmaster give these out?
He waited for his clone to come back with his own bag of hearts before taking the heart -- blue, this time. Eating it with no small pleasure -- sweet blueberry -- Naruto grinned (fakely) and offered a yellow one to Pallas.
Eat? She didn't want to eat them, she wanted Naruto to eat them, and do something weird. This was kind of a let down, but at least it was Naruto. He was always fun, even if he was a Gryffindor. He didn't seem to be upset over the events in the Slytherin dorms before he'd left. Maybe that was for the best.
Taking the offered heart, she looked at it, watching as the strange shapes began to appear on the surface, slowly becoming words. "Huh?"
PallaPalla stared at the heart, tilting her head this way and that. Why did it say that? She knew it was true, but who's friend was she? Was she Naruto's friend? Why would he want to be her friend when she always played tricks on him? Maybe he liked that sort of thing. If that was true, then she shouldn't trick him anymore. Maybe he was pretending. She was good at that, too. This was all confusing.
"Ah!" She watched as the heart he held did nothing at all. Maybe you had to give them away! But he ate them so fast, he couldn't read hers. "Here!" Pallas exclaimed, shoving another heart into his hand.
Naruto flicked the heart around in his hand, his eye twitching as he read the words.
"...OI! WHO'S CALLING ME A SILLY BOY?" Rising out of his seat, indignation practically pulsing from him, he whacked himself in the head once and sat back down, eating the heart with a very audible crunch.
Swallowing it, Naruto smiled as the sugar began to work in him, his grin almost widening and his hand twitching towards his wand.
"Hey, Pallas, I wonder what'll happen if we give more space to the hearts?"
Pulling his wand out, he pointed it at one of her hearts and grinned. "Engorgio!"
That was a brilliant idea! Pallas was quite enthusiastic about. Even if Naruto was a Gryffindor, he was funny and had good ideas. Ideas she'd take and use later, claiming they were her own, but ideas nonetheless.
"Naruto is a silly boy," she said quietly, as if it was strange to have to confirm it. As the heart on the table grew, and slid it over to the blond, a permanent grin plastered upon her face. "Ta da!"
He cocked his head to the side, then slid a hand under the massive heart to flip it around to see if any other words had appeared. Not finding anything, he pursed his lips but ate the whole thing anyway, what with it still being sugar.
He leaned back in his chair and laughed, the sugar beginning to pump through his body and excite his mind.
"Hey, Pallas, how 'bout if we enchant a couple of these to make people feel really hyper and go drop some of these hearts off at one of the Slytherin's boys' dorms? If we hide them good enough, they won't find them for days but when they come out it'll be GREAT!"
...He didn't much feel like eating candy hearts. Even if they were made of sugar.

"Hey, Pallas!"

The words resolved into 'Great Friend! Awesome Trickster!' and Naruto grabbed one of his hearts to see if it changed into words.
The heart stayed stubbornly blank, and he scowled.
