Rangiku grinned. It was snowing! And on top of it snowing, which was one of her favourite things because it meant there could be snowfights and ice skating and curling up inside in the warm  with hot chocolate, she'd finally figured something out. Something which should have clicked days ago; she was being silly, and Psyche was right - she should just talk to Ashe. After seeing Sophie's journal entry, she assumed that Ashe would be busy most of today. Seeing Sophie, maybe talking to Howl, or dealing with students who were staying home... but she would definitely talk to her during the break, even if it killed her.

One happily murmured Flashfreeze Charm later, and Rangiku was sure that the Great Lake would be safe to skate on. Of course she'd cast one earlier in case any of the students decided to skate, but the water was freezing and she didn't want to risk drenching herself, much as she loved swimming. She watched with a relaxed smile, brighter and freer than most of the ones she'd flashed in the last few days, as the ice crackled and thickened.

Pulling her favourite pink scarf a little tighter around her neck, Rangiku watched her breath in the air and cast a quiet charm at her feet, turning her boots into ice skates. It was a transfiguration spell Ashe had thought up, actually. Rangiku smiled a little more at the thought of her friend as she bounced onto the ice. She tugged her beanie - pink to match her scarf! - down to make sure it wouldn't fly off, and after a few shakey, possibly flaily, steps the blonde was away. Really, the fact that she was good at skating was miraculous, all things considered. Maybe she was naturally horribly clumsy, and the counterbalance of her chest somehow turned that into the ability to ice skate. Whatever it was, it was fun~

Spotting a familiar figure walking along the shore, Ran skidded to a halt. Ashe! Apparently the Gryffindor hadn't spotted her yet - she had started off on the other side of the lake, after all. She glanced around, taking in the massive piles of snow surrounding the lake, and even resting on some of the parts that she'd frozen. With an impish grin, she quietly skated closer, and scooped up a massive pile and patted it into a ball.

"Aaaaaaashe!"

Her voice was accompanied by a large snowball flying towards her best friend.
