Where Howl had gone to bed the night before in a state of confusion, he awoke in quite good spirits. The thoughts of friendships that he had never ventured into before had seemingly completely left his mind. Now, only two things occupied it. The first was, of course, the lovely Ashelia and how well their date had gone by the end of the night. He was a giddy fool, thinking of how she had agreed to see him again. Surely, it meant she was falling for him and would be in love with her before the end of Winter.
While it was no surprise that Howl's mind was filled with thoughts of the Transfiguration, the second thing surely was. Where Howl had been down and uncaring about the prospective Holiday (particularly in thoughts of his sister who he did not want to visit this year), he quite suddenly found himself in the spirit. The truth was, Christmas was by far Howl's favorite holiday and now that Hogwart's Castle was considerably less inhabited for the Holidays he felt as if he could take artistic liberties.
It was rather lucky for him no one had thought to decorate the place yet, but he blamed Cid for that. Really, it was a surprise he had not gone so far as to demand everyone to pitch in. This worked much better for the somewhat anti-social potion's professor though. However, it seemed as if he could care less who he spoke to. At the moment, he felt as if he could even take on Ghost Widow of all people (or things).
In the middle of the Entrance Hall, several boxes full of Christmas decorations were placed. Garland had already been threaded through the banister of the large marble staircase as well as two large wreathes placed on each humongous door. Somewhere along the wall stood Howl Pendragon, usual bellowing sleeves tied behind him to be kept out of the way as he worked with a mix of magic, as well as muggle way of decorating. Placed on a ladder (despite his fear of heights) he carefully hung magic-working (rather than electric) Christmas lights, using his wand to not only keep them in place, but also to keep the long strand floating in place so he didn't loose it.
If the sight weren't strange enough, to add to it Howl was humming quite happily.
