It had been a quiet, slow night in the Library. So quite, in fact, that Belle had closed the library and gotten out a couple of minutes early. She attributed the slow night to the fact that not only had there been a Quidditch match earlier in the day, but her own house had been playing and won. As most, though not all, of her more studious readers were in Ravenclaw, it was no wonder that the library had been so empty. Everyone was off celebrating and probably would be through the late night. She spared a brief thought that they were at least celebrating safely.

Making her way through the halls and up the stairs, she kept a book in her hands and eyes glued to the words upon the pages. She noticed no one else, or so it seemed, but still managed to maneuver her way around each object with an uncanny ease. Rounding a corner, however, Belle stepped to the side to avoid what she sensed as someone else and kept going.

For a few steps more, before pausing and glancing straight up from her book.

As he made his way down the hallway, Leoben was reminded just how difficult it was to move underneath an invisibility cloak. Especially since he was bringing a box along behind him. He really should have tied the cloak on, if only to avoid it falling off.

Still, he moved as quietly as he could, until he heard footsteps as he came up to a corner. He couldn't see all that well through the cloak, and slowed down only to prevent a collision.

Which proved unnecessary, as Belle, since he could make her out through the cloak now, had walked around him. He glanced back. Had she seen him? But he was invisible?

Slowly, Belle turned around with a perplexed, yet thoughtful look upon her face. Hadn't there been something right there moments ago? Something she had avoided? Hmm...

Closing her book, she retraced her steps lightly. Putting one hand out in front of her, she cautiously tried to reach about and see if there was physically something in the spot she had just avoided less than a minute ago. Something she couldn't actually see, but was there all the same. It was possible, after all, with magic. And Belle wouldn't put it past the castle to have some sort of invisible statue or something in the hallway.

As quietly as he could, Leoben took a few steps away from where he had been standing, box floating along behind him. The last thing he needed was to be discovered this early. He held his breath, hoping that she wouldn't become too curious. A tall order to ask for, but maybe he'd get lucky.

Kaoru was going about one of his usual night explorations, especially since there was a Quidditch match that had ended not long ago and people were too busy either celebrating or well, not celebrating if their house lost to pay much attention to him. That's if people paid attention to him lately after all.

He paused on a step, going into his pocket and getting out the map, taking a look at any areas he hadn't yet gone to, just for something to do for the mean time since he had plenty of time now to get it done. He kept glancing at it, while looking up at the same time, just to check where he was and where that was on the map, there were times he was glad Luke had given him back this map and this happened to be one of them.

Once he figured out where he was, he nodded in agreement to himself and started to make his way to the direction of where he was meant to be going for tonight to add to the map later.

A brief glance at his watch told Leoben that he was making good time. He hadn't seen anyone since Belle, and he was relieved, especially since he'd had to fix the cloak a few times.

And now was one of those times. The cloak had fallen off the box, and now, what appeared to be a disembodied hand was trying to pull it back on. Leoben sighed in frustration. This was getting him nowhere.

Kaoru paused for a moment, glancing over when he thought he spotted something from the corner of his eye, but couldn't make out what exactly it was in the first place as he looked around for a moment.

When he still couldn't see anything he guess they were either hiding or it was one of the schools ghosts that are around the place that he knew of since they can go through walls to get away if needs be. He stood there for a moment, thinking about if he should say something or not as he soon nodded, deciding it was best to check before moving on since he himself shouldn't really be out right now.

"Anyone here?" He called looking around as he did. He really hoped it wasn't a professor around, or another staff member.

Leoben had become a little too complacent, having to stop himself before he answered and gave himself away. He'd rather not be discovered, by staff or student.

Having dealt with the invisibility cloak issue with the box, he moved his own cloak aside, and used his wand to make some of the statues in the hall rattle. Hopefully, that would cause enough of a distraction.

...well its end of wednesday where I am? noxdawn December 8 2010, 12:01:12 UTC
The dorms were stifling; the common room unsafe, even with most of Gryffindor Tower noticeably subdued after the disappointment at the game today. Leaving Riku with yet another night of restless wandering around the Castle. There was that tapestry in the seventh floor corridor he'd been meaning to get to, anyway.

The stone tunnel that the woven knights had hidden, however, slid him right down to the Castle entrance, deathly quiet with nothing but moonbeams on the floor.

"...Guess that's the end of that," Riku commented to thin air.

With the end almost in sight, leoben felt he could breath a sigh of relief. Once he got into the passageway, things would probably be smoother sailing, not to mention that he could ditch the invisibility cloaks, which were proving to be more trouble than they were worth. Then he could just get to Hogsmede and wash his hands of the whole ordeal.

Leoben glanced around the corner, just to make sure the corridor was empty. He'd had enough chance encounters for one night.

Just not Leoben's day for sneaking it seemed like. Riku turned into the corridor, rounding that corner on his way back up. It's a scenic route, to be sure, but it wasn't like anything was waiting for him but another restless sleep.

Maybe if he had paid a bit more attention, he would've avoided catching his elbow on the wall. At least, Riku thought it was the wall. Up until he realized Hogwarts' stone and mortar was still a good ten inches away.

"...What?"

Upon feeling something brush his arm, Leoben cursed mentally. He should have been paying attention. A quick glance told him that it was a student, one he hadn't seen before, or at least, didn't recognize the outline of.

Not wanting any conflict, he started walking quickly down the hall before the student got curious about anything. He had to reach the painting before he was noticed. Maybe there was something in the hall he could use as a distraction.

Hank couldn't believe that Helper had run oFF. But not just that. He had run over the edge of the platform in the Hall with the moving staircases and knocked himself senseless and since then Hank had been following a trail of nuts and bolts trying to locate the, now, sort of broken robot. He paused, briefly, taking not of the diminishing trail.

"He can't be too far, now." He murmured under his breath, popping the collar on an old brown trench. Hank was a detective today, and nothing would stop him from solving the mystery of the missing robot. "Don't worry, Helper, I'm on my way." Pulling the rim of the hat down over his eyes, Hank continued down the Hall, only to pause as one of the bolts up ahead made a noise. He froze and looked up, but there was nobody there. "Hello, ..? Is someone there? .. Batman?"

So far, so good. After narrowly avoiding that one student, as well as Belle, Leoben had managed a decent pace, and if he kept this up, there would be nothing to worry about. That was until he heard the crunch. Was there something that spilled that he hadn't known about?

A quick lumos spell told him that there were bolts under his feet.

"What are these doing here?" he wondered, before realizing that he wasn't alone in the hallway. Frak.

Darnit Helper. He just had to run away. He had probably gotten himself lost, too.

Hank let out a sigh, but it got caught up in the back of his throat as that crunch! resounded throughout the Hall. He spun around, but didn't see anybody. Biting his lower lip, nervously, Hank took several steps backward, only to crush a few nuts and bolts under his own weight.

"Gh- Gh- Ghost!" He threw his arms up, and without warning, charging down the Hall flailing.

Any further thoughts as to why there were nuts and bolts on the ground couldn't be spared, as Leoben noticed Hank coming towards him. Which struck him as odd, as usually when one was panicked they ran in the opposite direction. Either way, Leoben had to get out of the way or else Hank was going to encounter the large box that he couldn't see what in his way.

He started down the hall again, faster than he had before, hoping to find a good place to do that without being obvious.

[ooc: sorry I didn't get to it yesterday, but did you want me to get that Leoben/Red log up?]

Leoben wasn't the only one with secrets. In the weeks since he'd held Sam in the chambers below the castle, keeping his brother locked up as he detoxed from the unicorn blood in his veins, Dean had continuously gone down there to make sure nobody discovered he'd been using the facility, and to make sure his key still worked ... just in case. Like a nervous tic, he needed to know he had that option there still, if somehow Sammy relapsed.

He hated that he didn't trust Sam enough to not take that precaution.

He was damn sure the corridor was clear when he moved out of the secret stairwell that led to those lower access levels. He cast a glance around the hallway and the tension left his shoulders when the door sealed back into place. He froze for a moment when he thought he heard footsteps, however.

... Nothing.

"... Huh."

It was weird how loud footsteps got in a quiet hallway. Normally, they'd be barely noticeable, but in a dark quiet hallway, they were quite audible. Especially since Leoben was trying to be as quiet as possible.

He slowed down when he noticed Dean's outline through the cloak. Seems like he wasn't the only one making use of the secret passages, since where Dean was standing appeared slightly out of the ordinary. Just another obstacle to get around, he supposed. One that was made difficult by the fact that the box's invisibility cloak as slipping off again.

Dean was about to slide down the hall when he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. Spotting the box hovering there, wire-free, his eyebrows shot up and he glanced around. Usually house ghosts were pretty ... visible, though some of them liked playing invisible games.

"Who's that?" he demanded, in a tone brooking no argument.

Judging by Dean's tone of voice, Leoben had no doubt that he had been spotted. He didn't even have to turn around to know that the cloak had slipped off once again, leaving the floating box obvious. And him trying to decide what to do. He didn't want to to reveal himself, and that didn't leave a lot of other options.

He didn't say anything, but tried to locate something that could be used as a distraction. It had worked before, after all. At the same time, he felt around with his foot for the fallen cloak.
