It had been a quiet, slow night in the Library. So quite, in fact, that Belle had closed the library and gotten out a couple of minutes early. She attributed the slow night to the fact that not only had there been a Quidditch match earlier in the day, but her own house had been playing and won. As most, though not all, of her more studious readers were in Ravenclaw, it was no wonder that the library had been so empty. Everyone was off celebrating and probably would be through the late night. She spared a brief thought that they were at least celebrating safely.

Making her way through the halls and up the stairs, she kept a book in her hands and eyes glued to the words upon the pages. She noticed no one else, or so it seemed, but still managed to maneuver her way around each object with an uncanny ease. Rounding a corner, however, Belle stepped to the side to avoid what she sensed as someone else and kept going.

For a few steps more, before pausing and glancing straight up from her book.

As he made his way down the hallway, Leoben was reminded just how difficult it was to move underneath an invisibility cloak. Especially since he was bringing a box along behind him. He really should have tied the cloak on, if only to avoid it falling off.

Still, he moved as quietly as he could, until he heard footsteps as he came up to a corner. He couldn't see all that well through the cloak, and slowed down only to prevent a collision.

Which proved unnecessary, as Belle, since he could make her out through the cloak now, had walked around him. He glanced back. Had she seen him? But he was invisible?

Slowly, Belle turned around with a perplexed, yet thoughtful look upon her face. Hadn't there been something right there moments ago? Something she had avoided? Hmm...

Closing her book, she retraced her steps lightly. Putting one hand out in front of her, she cautiously tried to reach about and see if there was physically something in the spot she had just avoided less than a minute ago. Something she couldn't actually see, but was there all the same. It was possible, after all, with magic. And Belle wouldn't put it past the castle to have some sort of invisible statue or something in the hallway.

As quietly as he could, Leoben took a few steps away from where he had been standing, box floating along behind him. The last thing he needed was to be discovered this early. He held his breath, hoping that she wouldn't become too curious. A tall order to ask for, but maybe he'd get lucky.

Luck, however, was a very fickle thing and, unfortunately for Leoben, Belle was a pretty curious, not to mention persistent, individual. Perhaps that was one of the reasons why she was sorted into Ravenclaw, that thirst for knowledge. Carefully she continued her movement forward, sweeping her hand gently side to side in an effort to find contact, unsure of what it was exactly that she had at least thought she had sensed within the hallway.

After a few minutes, Belle took a step back and frowned ever so slightly to herself. Nothing appeared to be there, but she had been so sure! Just then a Gastly glided out through the walls on one side of the hallway and into the other on the opposite side. Maybe it was one of the Ghost Pokèmon she had avoided? That certainly could of been it... and it definitely would explain why she could no longer find what it was she had avoided.

Satisfied with that assessment, Belle opened her book once more and continued her walk towards her original destination.

After Belle had left, Leoben let go of the breath he had been holding. That had been close, and he would have to remember to leave something out for the pokemon as a thank you.

With that, he continued towards the secret passage, and his way out.
