As she had planned to attend the Ball any way, Belle had no problem in assisting with the chaperone duties. When she had heard of the Ball, she was quite excited to attend, yet a pang had hit her heart. It had been a while since she had last attended a party, and was looking forward to having some fun with her fellow staff and the students. At the same time, the last one she had attended was with her fiancè who was not here to attend with her, at the moment. Pushing the sadness out of her mind and heart, Belle instead focused on the intentions of her happiness that Adam had in mind when setting up this job at Hogwarts for her.

She had immediately set about to finding a suitable costume and narrowed it down between historical figures and literary ones. Eventually, Belle came to settle upon Athena, the Greek Goddess of Wisdom. Her outfit wasn't too revealing or too outlandish and fit her perfectly - at least, Cherry, Nurse Joy's Chansey, seemed to like it. She had transfigured the heeled shoes that had been suggested with it down to a more suitable length and done her hair a simple braided twist, gathered at the back of her head with the rest flowing in gentle rings, a simple golden leafed circlet resting on top. It all fit perfectly.

As she walked into the Grand Room with some of the others planning on attending, Belle couldn't stop the gasp of awed surprise that left her. It was all quite a sight! She spent a few good moments of wandering about, admiring all the details, before making her way around the room. Her shift would start shortly, after all.

The social butterfly that Eagle seems to have turned into today, hovers closer to Belle before speaking in a cheerful respectful tone.

“Another Greek inspired costume! Those seem to be fairly popular. Professor Trepe also seems to have taken inspiration from that period of time for her outfit.”

A smile, “Have you seen her yet? I think she was hiding on the far side of the room.”

"Ah, bonjour, Eagle!",Belle greeted. She had turned around as soon as she heard his voice and smiled. It was nice to know, in her knowledge loving mind, that many others found the Ancient Greeks to be an enjoyable subject. Hearing that another staff member was dressed in a similar fashion, Belle let her eyes wander about the crowd, trying to spot Professor Trepe.

"No, not yet.",she replied, still glancing about towards the opposite end. "I will have to find her later." Turning her eyes back towards Eagle, she smiled at his costume, taking his appearance in. "That's a fantastic outfit! You are that music talent, no?"

“I thought I would try for something different!” Eagle said as a way of answering her question.

He usually dressed far more conservatively than this, either in the school uniform or in a black turtle neck shirt… but Halloween was a time to be a bit more flamboyant.

“Are you enjoying the party so far? I have been told the Witches Finger cookies are really good… but I haven’t tried them myself yet.”

Belle nodded, accepting his answer. The flamboyant and loud costume was definitely something different for Eagle to try, but oddly enough it fit him well. Or he was just one of those people who could wear almost anything well.

"Oui.",she answered with a smile. "It is a lovely party. Monsieur Phatomhive had un wonderful idea, arranging this."

“A costume ball was a very good idea,” Eagle agrees with a returned smile, “I wonder what might have inspired Ciel’s sudden desire for one.”

Belle mused over Eagle's words. She hadn't been around long enough to know whether or not throwing such a ball was of the norm for Ciel, but something in the way Eagle spoke told her it wasn't. That was a curious question, indeed.

"Perhaps he just felt like it would be a nice thing to do?",she suggested, playing an optimistic side.

Eagle didn’t know that much about the Earl either. Whether or not throwing a ball would be a normal occurrence for Ciel, he really didn’t know. Though somehow it just seemed out of character. It was Eagle’s own limited experience with Ciel that made him suspicious of the younger boy’s motivations. Something about that boy… was creepy.
Just a feeling that so far Eagle hadn’t been able to discover too much about…

But, he grinned at Belle’s suggestion, “I’m sure it is something as simple as that.”

"Oui.",Belle reaffirmed her earlier suggestion. She generally did find Ciel quite the charming student, and while Eagle's earlier question was curious, she was not one to make theories or assumptions about another.

Changing the subject to something more appropriate, she spoke up. "Have you tried any of the party games?",she asked curiously. She had seen some students playing and they looked quite fun, but didn't want to attempt them herself until after her shift.

“I haven’t really,” Though he would be playing in Ciel’s more elaborate game later, “I have watched a few people playing them.”

Just a chuckle remembering Hikaru bobbing for apples… and getting soaked by her after she had won.

“The younger students especially seem to be enjoying them.”

"It seems so.",she laughed, watching another student attempt to bob for apples and then a small group scare themselves into laughter with the creation of a story. "Which one do you think looks the most fun?"

Eagle takes a moment to look around the room at the games and the people playing them. Really all of the games appeared to be fun, if the happy smiling faces were any indication. But before he can answer pointing out which of those activities looks the most fun to him… something catches his eye.
One of those younger students, dressed as a gypsy walks into view on the other side of the room. Obviously this girl held far more interest for him than anything else that was going on in the room, as he watches her hop off to disappear in the crowd again.
Chuckling a little sheepishly, because maybe Belle noticed that… Eagle looks back to continue the conversation, “I’m not sure… maybe the ‘Ghoul Toss’. That does look a little more dry than the bobbing for apples game.”

Curiously, Belle followed Eagle's gaze as he zero'd in on another student. With a smile, she shook her head. "Merci. I think I will go and inspect the gaming area next.",she declared, tilting her head slightly at him. "I am sure there are many more things interesting than talking to the staff all night, Eagle."

And… the sheepish laughter continues. So she had noticed after all. It couldn’t be helped. Hikaru was a very fascinating young lady, energetic and outgoing. But Eagle decided, that was all there really was to it…
“I’m sure I could find something to get into,” But he’ll politely add this before turning to walk away, “I hope you can find the time to enjoy the party as well.”

"Merci.",Belle replied, with a bow of her head. She couldn't help herself, she had to, perhaps somewhat mysteriously, add before wandering off,"I hope you find who you are looking for again and the two of you can enjoy the night as well."

Dr. Watson [Agni] had also volunteered to chaperone the Phantomhive ball. He had just finished inspecting the refreshments and was pleased to find that they had not been otherwise tampered with. So far all the attendees appeared to be behaving themselves. A smile played across his face as he began making the rounds elsewhere. Sooner or later Sherlock [Soma] should be arriving. Despite his duties the two of them should be able to spend plenty of time together and Agni was looking forward to meeting Soma's new friends.

Seeing the fellow chaperone as she entered, his smile widened. Her expression was a testament to all the hard work that the fellow butlers work. He only wished that he'd played a part in it. It would have been great fun working alongside Sebastian and Mr. Faustus. Agni hadn't even known the counselor even was a butler! One day they were going to have to meet.

Closing the distance between them he bowed slightly, though still towering over most of the nearby guests, and welcomed Belle to the ball. " Welcome Desrosiers, might I say your costume looks lovely".
