Ciel is making the rounds, greeting all of his guests with tact, and in a cordial manner. This is what they call Phantomhive hospitality. Something he usually reserves for the social gatherings held at his own manor. He's dressed as a character straight out of fiction, The Scarlet Pimpernel, the costume is not so far removed from his usual attire. The jacket at least is red, and sporting the flower of his character's namesake, and a smart-looking cravat. Unlike Sir Blakeney, Ciel is not as sociable but he is making the effort, offering his guests a rarely witnessed faint smile.

“They seek him here, they seek him there”

A polite chuckle as a playful voice is heard from behind. Turning Ciel would notice Eagle standing there, smiling as usual but wearing a much more flamboyant outfit than he usually wore.
With a dark brimmed hat, a flashy purple shirt, and a fur trimmed coat that hung down to his knees, Eagle looked every bit the ‘Idol’ he was pretending to be.

“You really went out of your way for this party, Ciel.”

Noting the elaborate decorations and the attention to all the little details the Earl seemed to have taken such care in preparing. And, since Eagle was nothing if not polite.

“Thank you again for inviting me.”

"Those Frenchies seek him everywhere," Ciel continued the phrase. A smirk played across his face when he delivered this particular line, "Is he in heaven or is he in hell?".

Rolling his head to one side, he didn't have to guess who was approaching him. They'd spoken a few times over the journals, albeit not so amicably. What was Mr. Vision even wearing? This style of fashion was lost on the Slytherin youth, having not spent much attention to modern popstars.

"This?" Ciel waved a hand dismissively, " This is nothing for one baring the Phantomhive name".

"Think nothing of it".

The intonation on the word ‘hell’ was interesting… but the smirk itself was returned with an amiable grin.

“If you are the Scarlet Pimpernel then I wonder who Chauvelin might be…?”

Eagle glanced around the room as if actually looking for the tenacious French envoy who doggedly pursued the Pimpernel… intent on capturing all of his secrets. But, apparently not finding anyone who quite matched the description Eagle turned his attention back to Ciel with a mischievous chuckle.

"I wonder," Ciel replied looking directly at Eagle. Then more seriously,' Whoever he may be... he won't be successful". Then as a good host he let his features relax and tried to lighten the mood or at least steer the subject in another direction.

"Do help yourself to the buffet, I hear the witch's fingers are especially good".

Eagle’s mood was already light, trying to further entertain the jovial young man was hardly necessary… but he nodded politely at Ciel’s attempt and at ’Sir Percy’s’ insistence didn’t continue the conversation in the direction it had been going in.

“I will certainly try them later. Thank you for the recommendation.”

Ciel waited for the other student to leave, but apparently he was not taking the hint. His plans were hinging on putting his best foot forward so he certainly couldn't drop the polite overtones now. Even if he wasn't fooling anyone in this case. "No problem".

"So what are you dressed as anyway?". He asked, eyes lingering on the feathers,"Some.. kind of... bird?".

“Clearly an Eagle!”

He laughed, plainly finding this situation all the more funny due to Ciel’s attempts to be impertinent.

“No honestly, I am dressed as an Idol from Japan… though being from England yourself I don’t suppose you would recognize something like that. I thought it would be fun dress as something as unlikely as that!”

The boy's expression remained virtually unchanged save for the slight downward arching of the corners of his mouth. Clearly, not as amused by this whole situation as much as the older student. "How droll, Mr. Vision. A pity to be wasting all of your material on me".

"We do have our own share of pop stars, however I generally do not waste my time on them". If anything, he listened to classical music more than anything. "Halloween does grant us the occasion of dressing in unexpected ways". Run along now.

“I know you do have pop stars in England, I only meant you might not recognized the particular star my costume was modeled after.”

Finally choosing to acknowledge Ciel’s attempts to end the conversation, something the smaller boy had been trying to do almost before the exchange had even started, Eagle considerately stood aside.

“At any rate, I should allow you to receive the rest of your guests. So, many people have shown up… I’m sure they will all want to greet you.”

"There's actually a person that dresses like that?" Ciel had assumed the costume was generic and not based on any one person. "Do enlighten me..". Not that he really cared.

Finally. The boy couldn't have made his intentions more clear. With a slight nod of the head Ciel was only too pleased to allow this conversation to drop entirely. "Yes, it is quite the turn out. If you'll excuse me...".

Then he took the opportunity to walk away.

Yuiko had been walking around giving out treats from her basket as she was dressed as red riding hood for the part. She soon spotted the pirate, but he wasn't dressed as a pirate... except the eye patch again as she came skipping over to him. "Ciel! Hi there," she said as she went into her basket and held out some sort of treat (muns choice) as she smiled. "Here you go."

Ciel was unaware of Yuiko's thoughts however, if he were truly a pirate it would have been redundant to dress as one wouldn't it? Yuiko was easy to spot, bounding over to him basket in hand. "Good evening, Yuiko," He replied casually. "What is--". The treat was unexpected, he slowly took it from her and looked it over. "This really wasn't necessary".

".. but thank you".

"I'm going around giving everyone, one." It was necessary, but it was something she wanted to do, apart from that gift she said she was doing, which reminded her it was in the basket also as she went back into it and held it out to him, all wrapped up in what only could be wrapping paper, but could be considered something else.

"I finally finished it," she said happily, she had finished it before, but hadn't seen the boy until well now, as she smiled holding it out for him to take.

"Like reverse trick-or-treating? Instead of going from person to person asking for treats, you're going from person to person passing out treats". He mused. "That is kind of you Yuiko".

Ciel was noticeably surprised when she produced yet another gift. He was about to remind her that she'd just given him a treat however her words caused him pause. "It?". He may have forgotten that she'd been working on anything at all. He hesitated to take it, but eventually he did. "Thank you".

He looked down at the wrapped item but didn't open it just yet.

Botan was quite surprised, but pleased, when she had heard of this Ball that Ciel was throwing. It was quite a lovely idea in her mind and just what they could all use. Besides, Hogwarts always did have the best of parties! Nothing was ever dull ( ... )
