Welcome, staff members, to what we know as our 'staff meetings.' These meetings are no longer compulsory for professors, but they are for all other staff members. Aside from that, think of them as an opportunity to discuss the events of Hogwarts and gain CR amongst fellow staff members.
There are just a few guidelines for how these will work.

She seems a little distracted by the absent of her daemon who had apparently become her confidant. Although she now mentions that she is considering investing in a small pet.

Cid Says that Ideally he would like to see all the staff there, lest anything should happen (as tends to be the trend at Hogwarts) but they are not required.

He thanks Cid and starts pick at one cupcake. And he tells him that he will volunteer for chaperone-ing duties if there aren't an adequate amount of staff at the gala.

Cid is fairly certain at this point that they have a sufficient number of chaperones, but he would be delighted to see more staff there. The evening promises to be good fun!
And if a disaster breaks out they may need his Latin expertise. ;;
