Utena had learned, to some small extent during her time in the Outside World, that there were Ohtori rules and then there were the rules of the world outside of Ohtori. She thought Hogwarts rules were more...solid, less obtuse. Easier to understand, and so she followed them (to some extent), because here there were no prisoners. At least, that was what she believed.

That didn't mean she wasn't above bending said rules or outright breaking them from time to time, especially when Anthy was involved. The girl threw on her robes (remembering to pin on her Prefect badge in the event she needed an excuse for being up at this hour) and slipped out of her dorm room quietly, balancing her broom carefully underneath her arm. She tiptoed down the steps and opened the portrait door, seeking out a familiar head of violet hair. She found who she was looking for a second later, and grinned.

"Psst, Himemiya."

There was little time before the distance formerly between them was no more, the white rose presented to Utena with a hopeful smile as she waited for the girl to accept it. She did not pin the rose to Utena's jacket as she had ceremoniously many times before, but it was just as meaningful. It was clear allusion to their troubled past as well as a recognition of the change in circumstances. New beginnings and perhaps an apology as well as an expression of gratitude. The offered rose said much more than she could articulate and she hoped it was understood.

"It made me think of you," she whispered for only Utena to hear.

Utena's eyes softened, and she took the offered rose, her fingers brushing against Anthy's as she did so. Her grasp on the flower (the bloom was perfect as usual: no browned petals or snapped thorns) was careful, gentle -- she didn't want to be too rough and risk crushing the stem or the petals. She wondered first, where Anthy got the rose at this hour, then remembered it was Anthy, and that even outside of Ohtori, she more than likely had a way to get roses from...somewhere. While she didn't entirely understand Anthy all the time, she understood the sentiment involved, the importance of this small gift.

"Thanks, Himemiya. It's really pretty." Her voice was low, but warm and gentle.

There was a lot more she wanted to say and questions she wanted to ask, but it came with the realization this wasn't the best time. If they were to sneak out without being caught, then every moment standing in the hallway only increased that risk. As much as she had very little care for authority, especially now, it would put a damper on their plans if she was sent back to the Slytherin commons.

"Shall we be on our way?" she suggested by way of linking her arm with Utena's and pulling herself close against her side.
