Alyss had heard a little bit about the love potion deal in snippets of conversation, but as such, since she was not only a brand new staff member of the school, she was brand new to the wonders that were Hogwarts, she wasn't exactly sure what kind of mishap this was. Though the new professor did find it quite odd about the staff and students suddenly spouting off confessions and sending each other trinkets.
The flowers, she figured, had been such a trinket. However, the woman was tact enough to not comment on that when she had wrote up the journal to find out her admirer, something left over from her upbringing. Though she had definitely relaxed since that time...
Lost in her thoughts, fingers twisting the tooth that lay around her neck absently, Alyss was pulled out of her reverie at the sounds of knocking on her office door. She smiled and called out, "It's open. Please come on in."
With Alyss's voice telling him to come in, Cloud quietly pushed the door open and went on inside, silent for a moment as he tried to figure out what it was exactly he wanted to say. But okay, well, the flowers, he could start with the flowers.
"I know you said you liked the ones I already gave you, but I though you might like blue too." Also the fact that he felt strangely compelled to shower her beautiful gifts, but he didn't think that was something he was really proper to say to a lady. Was it? Well if you were trying to be romantic, but he had no idea --
When the blond had moved close enough to Alyss, he held the bouquet out for her to take. He seemed to struggle for words a moment before finally saying, "I'm Cloud, by the way. I don't... know if you remembered what I look like."
A pause.
"Not that I think you're forgetful, we just... haven't seen much of each other before."
It was for the best that Cloud did not tell Alyss that he felt an urge to shower her in gifts. It was not something she was particularly fond of, at least not at her age. Had she been a little girl again, an impetuous and easily bored sheltered child, perhaps it would have pleased her. As the matter were, she was a young woman who didn't feel the need to be impressed by trinkets
( ... )
The blond was quiet for a little bit then, though the almost curious way in which his faintly glowing eyes were following her motions and also taking note of how her office looked was enough to show he was paying attention. And he seemed to be a little interested by how her vase appearing spell thing had worked, but he didn't verbally mention it.
"Sometimes Hogwarts needs more colour." It was fairly easy to pick up on his sincerity -- certainly a face softer than his students usually saw.
"I... um, hope you're settling in alright." Did he say that before? Oh no, probably. "...you'll get used to it, though. In the... way that the idea of weird things that come from nowhere start making sense, anyway." Probably the best way to put it.
"All places need color, or else they become drab and dreary," Alyss said softly as she glanced back at Cloud, still smiling. After she had been adopted by the Liddell family, drab clothes and dreary colors were all she had really seen for years, so she was very grateful to have already been able to dress up her office.
"Weird things?" She asked absently, an innocent look on her face. So far, Alyss hadn't seen anything that wasn't too unusual, at least not by the standards of Wonderland, which was a very strange place for any person to venture into. "Oh, yes, I'm settling in just fine. It's hard not to with such friendly people to welcome me and brighten up my room." It was a small compliment, subtle in a way.
He nodded. Cloud wasn't much for decorating rooms with colours personally, but he could never forget the vibrant ways in which his mother had always coloured and decorated their old home. Alyss was right.
"Weird things." The blond confirmed. "Hard to explain, but... well, since you're working here now, you'll see on your own eventually." It was probably a little ironic that technically, right now with Cloud's minor infatuation, Alyss was already being exposed to the strange spell mishaps -- but it wasn't like the man really knew what he was doing right now.
"If you, um... need anything..." Where was he going with this sentence anyway? "...I'll help, if you want."
"I guess I will just have to wait for those weird things, then," Alyss laughed, very curious but what Cloud meant. It wasn't much to go on, but he had said that it was hard to explain, and she would just accept it as it was. As for Cloud's behavior, it was something she had been exposed to when being courted by her former fiance. Spell or not, she didn't find it unusual.
"Oh, I wouldn't want to be a bother," she began, tapping her bottom lip once gently, "but this is my first time at Hogwarts, and a tour would be lovely. I would explore on my own, but the headmaster informed me that this place can become quite strange in its layout when it wants to be."

"It's fine." Cloud assured her. Alyss would never be a bother as far as he was concerned. "I don't mind. Headmaster's right about the layout though, but I can still show you the main places. Probably the best way to start, right?"
"Yes. I can get along fine knowing the basic layout. Whatever else is within this castle will just need to be explored when I know I can get from my office to the Great Hall without becoming lost." Alyss laughed softly, feeling only the slightest prick of embarrassment at the truth of that particular statement. "Lead the way, good sir."

Yeah, smooth. Good job Cloud.
