So Nyota didn't have her usual study partner for the Hogsmeade trip, she would just have to do without. She didn't need anyone else, she just preferred having Spock around.
But he'd used the oldest excuse in the book to get out of it, which left her walking to the library on Saturday all alone, hauling several large textbooks with her, including the one on Wizarding Law that she needed to review for the exam. She made a beeline for a distant corner, a little-used study table near a section of books on alchemy.

"Familial obligation", was apparently Spock-speak for "I don't really like you anymore and don't want to tell you so."
