Edward could hardly believe class was canceled. What was he supposed to do with his time? After all classes were pretty important and filled up much of his day.

Hesitantly he decided to check in on Iroh. He figured if he was off sick it must be really bad. How could someone not want to study?

He had walked from the library and therefore had a nice pile of books in his arms, some of which pertaining to his non-existent class for the day, but that didn't stop him from knocking at the door. It was loud and sounded off because of his right hand. He dropped it quickly to try and catch the stack of books before he lost some of them.

"Um, Professor Iroh?" He called through the door, hoping the man was still alive.

Iroh looked up from his desk and smiled upon seeing Edward Elric again gracing his office with his presence. Of course, seeing another pile of books in his arms was enough to prompt his swift welcoming. "My goodness, are all the students around here burying themselves with book stacks?" He helped ease the load in Edward's hands.

After settling the pile of books on one of the various tables around, he turned back to the student visitor. "So, how can I help you, Mr. Elric?"

"Well, um, nothing really, but I think that, I mean, I was worried, well, not worried but thinking you might be really sick and not able to teach so I thought I'd make sure you were okay."

Edward shuffled his feet shyly.

Iroh laughed a little to himself with a short staccato of a cough. "It is okay, Edward. You are not the only one to come in." He straightened the stack of books he helped bring in. "I apologize if the licorice tea is a little strong, but I can brew something different for you if you plan on being around for a while."

He opened a cabinet featuring many of his sweeter and easier blends. "Any kind you want. Frequent visitors privelage, of course."

"Um yeah I guess so, I mean, I don't have class or anything." Edward took his bag off his shoulder and set it on the back of the chair as he sat down, looking at the selection thoughtfully. "Um, I don't really have much of a preference. I pretty much only drink tea when I see you." He leaned back in the chair, crossing his arms a bit as he slouched. He rubbed his eyes a bit, he'd been reading a lot lately. "Are you sure you shouldn't be in bed Professor? I seem to remember when I was sick I had to go to bed."

Iroh sorted through several bags of tea with colorful pouches with the tips of his fingers, as though he were sorting through files in a cabinet. "Let's see...no...no...not today...not quite...definitely not...no...wait, here we are. A nice orange tea." As he began brewing, he nodded toward Edward. "I am glad to hear I am the only to share such an honor as drinking with you, Mr. Elric. Your company is always welcomed," he said.

When Edward made mention of his illness, Iroh shrugged it off. "I have had worse days, and work must be done. Also, I'm an adult, so I can make silly decisions. Besides, I have my tea as my medicine." He sipped a generous helping of sweetened licorice tea. "I hope you are not concerned with my health. I am fine. You appear to have been burning the midnight oil...what is happening, Mr. Elric?"

"Honour? N-no, I mean, it's just tea, that's all..." Ed flushed a little, ducking his head awkwardly.

He looked at Iroh, studying the man and the way he moved. "Tea's not really medicine." He frowned a little. "Are you sure? Because really, if you're sick, you don't have to sugarcoat it. I mean I can handle news like that."

Ed shrugged off the question. "Nothing."

Iroh shook his head toward Edward's shy attitude. "Really, you are good to have around. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders." Iroh did genuinely feel that Ed had a great deal of intellect and cunning that would aid him in his future.

Iroh gave a stern look suddenly in the middle of his preparation of Ed's orange tea. "Tea is good for you! It has many health benefits and is good for the soul," Iroh practically shouted. Then, realizing his rough attitude, he apologized to Ed. "I'm sorry. I think the stress of the sickness got to me...and I like tea."

He finished preparing Edward's cup and handed it to him. "I am sick, but it is nothing I have not experienced before in all my years."

"I'm not saying tea isn't good for you, I'm sure it is, but that's still not medicine." Edward sighed heavily and shook his head.

"If you're sure it's not serious." Edward conceded, but he didn't look too convinced. He accepted the tea in his right hand and took a sip. Somehow he was beginning to feel the fatigue that had been lingering at the back of his mind.

Iroh coughed into his hand again just as he was about to counter Ed's argument. He gave a regretful sigh and pointed toward the student. "...I will consider getting actual medicine for your sake, Edward."

He patted Edward on the shoulder. "I still have my strength. A little less color, a little bit sluggish walking around...but I still have my strength." Then he noticed Elric's eyes seeming to be glazed and sluggish on their own. "Please, tell me what is happening, Mr. Elric. I am concerned for your weariness."

Ed nodded, looking like he felt a little better about it at least. "I'm glad."

"Really Professor Iroh, nothing. I've just been researching a lot lately. I just came up with something that might help with my dream potion but it didn't pan out."

Iroh gave a sigh of relief himself over seeing his valuable visitor being able to put their own mind at ease. "If it continues to get worse, I will immediately seek someone to help me. As for right now, I will stick to the classics." He raised his glass to Edward and sipped slowly on his bitter licorice tea.

"Well, do not get too wrapped up in research, Mr. Elric. It seems to be taking a toll on your body, and if you were to get sick, I would give you the same degree of worry as you have done for me," Iroh stated with a resounding authority. The idea of students making themselves sick over work at such a young age often frustrated Iroh. However, the staff at Hogwarts put his worries to rest with their fair and balanced view on student work and student life. "Now tell me about this dream potion. I am quite intrigued."

"I don't really get sick." Edward said, waving his hand a bit. "I'll be fine Professor."

He looked a little thoughtful about the potion. "Well, the potion is one that I have been working on for sometime. See, Dreamless Sleep is addictive so it's not safe to take all the time, but if you have nightmares and sleep is difficult it would be nice if you could block those recurring dreams so, I'm trying to fine tune it, but so far I haven't been able to make it work much, although it currently has a drowsy effect."

Iroh gave a suspicious eyebrow to the confident student. "That's what I thought...before today. Please take care of yourself before trying to save the world on your own, Mr. Elric."

Iroh listened and tapped a finger to his chin as he pondered Edward's project. "That is quite the ambitious undertaking, Mr. Elric. Have you consulted Professor Pendragon on helping you with your potions work? I am sure he would be curious into your foray into the subconscious."

Ed laughed. "Save the world? I wouldn't go quite that far..."

He nodded. "I have a lot of motivation to its success really." Edward looked thoughtful. "Well I could consult Professor Pendragon but I don't know...I haven't gone to his office to see him lately...and his office is really tempting. I don't usually talk to him too much." He blushed. "He has an excellent library."

Iroh chuckled with him. "You just seem to be doing enough research on your own to do so."

He nodded with him. "If it would be of any help, I can speak to him for you. I already have to speak with him about a student who is doing poorly in his class, so why not speak with him about someone who must be doing quite well in his class?"
