Normalizing

It's nice to be getting back into a normal rhythm again after square dancing the past several weekends, and not many prospects either for the next few.

Things are somewhat slow at work, because all my colleagues are on vacation.  It gives me, however, time to focus on some of my larger tasks that otherwise get interrupted all the time and down-prioritised constantly.  I've been having some fun (and also a lot of frustrations) learning a new program-- Telelogic System Architect-- which I need to implement to our workgroup.

Aksel went to visit his parents on Jutland today, and won't be coming home until late this evening, so I've had a nice quiet time tonight-- washing clothes, making dinner, making some travel arrangements for upcoming square dance events, and watching "Ugly Betty" on TV.

As for dinner I made a variation on a Hungarian favorite dish, Lecsó, which I learned from my Hungarian mother, and a fresh cucumber salad (cucumbers from the greenhouse).

As for travel arrangements I reserved a rental car in Kalmar, Sweden for my square dance intensive C3A learning week at Dave Wilson's Bödabaden Dance Resort on the island of Ölland off the east coast of Sweden the first week in September, and I worked out a good plan for my train travel over there.  It's my first time to Bödabaden and I'm excited about going there.  I'm also very excited to be finishing up learning the C3A list.  I am also learning C3A with The Diamond square dance club in Aarhus, and we should finish up the list during our intensive weekend in mid-August.  My expectation is that after the intensive class the first week in September I will be dancing with my club's tape group in September, and reinforcing my training with more classes when available.

I also made reservations at Scheelsminde Hotel & Gastronomi for the end of September when I travel to Aalborg, Denmark for The Diamond's Challenge Dance featuring Vic Cedar and Sandie Bryant, two of my favorite callers.  Sandie was one of my first teachers when I was a newbie at Chi-Town Squares, my hometown in USA.  And Scheelsminde is a nice place to stay-- close to the dance hall-- at least closer than where I used to stay, and it has a fabulous restaurant.  Yum yum.

And as for "Ugly Betty", my current fave TV show-- and my only TV show as a matter of fact-- tonight should have been the last episode for the season.  Last week the episode was marked nr. 11 our of 12, and this week should have been 12 out of 12-- but, whoopie!  This week's episode was marked 12 out of 24.  I can look forward to another 12 episodes!

In the meantime my other favorite TV shows, which have been dark these past few months, should be returning in the autumn.  Ooh!  it's going to be tough finding the time to see them all-- good thing we recently got that new hard disc recorder.

Otherwise I've been reading Bram Stoker's Dracula in my down times.  And that's exactly what I intend to do next, before it's time to call it a day.
