Hobby Lobby

I ordered some yarn from Hobby Lobby last week to make a Dr. Watson scarf. Looking on Ravelry was a great help because I found a project that listed Hobby Lobby's I love this Yarn as a possible yarn to use for the pattern. I've used this particular yarn before and fell in love with it. I've always wanted to use it again. Mama had found it at a thrift store and gave it to me last year. Great texture and I love the way it knits. Too bad my usual online stores don't sell it. I had become interested in buying yarn from Hobby Lobby if only for that particular yarn, especially when I found out there was a store very near to home. A friend of mine is always talking about how great a store it is. This project gave me a very good reason give Hobby Lobby a try.

I ordered it Thursday and I expected it to take at least a week to arrive. Which was fine because I have finals coming up and it would keep my fingers from itching to start on the project. I need to do my homework and alot of reading. In fact, I was hoping it would take a week. I'm knocked out in bed Monday morning from a late night of reading and the front door bell rings. I just happened to have heard the postal lady drive up to our box. Putting 2 and 2 together I waited. Mama checks the front door and comes to my room with a box all excited. "Did you order something from Hobby Lobby?!" I was surprised. I didn't even get a "we've sent out your order" email or a tracking number or anything or the sort from Hobby Lobby. These things I'm used to from the other websites. I was sure my order was still waiting to be filled.

When I checked the box I saw that it came all the way from Oklahoma. I'm guessing it came from a warehouse devoted to online ordering for it to have arrived that quickly. To have my order in only 2-3 business days made me giddy with excitement. To top it off, I had made the order late on Thursday evening. Now that I think about it, though, they are 2 hours behind us on the east coast so it wasn't late to them. Needless to say I've started the scarf. At the same time, I started mama's afghan again. I was following one pattern before but it was turning out so wrong. I had extra stitches and it was growing in a weird triangle shape. That pattern needed a much better quality yarn then I was using. So I ended up frogging it (rib-bit rib-bit!). I found what I hope is an easier pattern but it's a pattern meant for a childs blanket. No matter. I'm just going to double the stitches. It has an intricate design in the pattern almost similar to the first one but this one is much less complex and smaller. Less intense.
