So I finally decided to just let my armoire go to someone in the neighborhood. Our trash day isn't until Thursday but I figured if I put it out today, especially with the minimal chance of rain we'll be getting until Thursday, it would be picked up by someone who would want it. That's how daddy and my brother picked it up. They saw it curbside waiting for the sanitary workers 8 years ago and decided it would be a fine addition to the house free of charge. The only thing spent was muscle power hoofing home by foot. And it is heavy and well built. Whoever put it out must have known that someone would want it, especially since the mirror was still intact.
It was put to good use for 8 years. But then after 8 years, I decided to let it go. I was tired of it taking up so much of my space. Granted it had shelves and drawers for days but it was also encouraging hording. It had to go. And since it was free, no one objected. I would be the one hurt most by it's loss. Why do they care? But I've been working on throwing out and giving away the items in it that I don't need or care for anymore.
So Clo helped me put it out curbside and we were espeically careful with the mirror. I wanted someone else to have the mirror in the same condition as we had gotten it. I had orignally said I'd take it out Tuesday but I was absolutely restless and wanted it gone. I had procured boxes from work and started systematically putting stuff in those boxes. Towards the end though, I didn't care and started dumping stuff in the boxes. I was aiming for orgainization but I loss patience. I'd deal with it later. The armoire was gone within 8 hours. It didn't even see the sun set before someone else in our neighborhodd decided to welcome into their home.
My neighborhood is so good about recycling.
