So our vacuum cleaner, our trusty faithful vacuum cleaner has just about had it. I know it's kinda weird to give mourning to a household appliance, especially when they are so easy to replace. It makes it worse though to think about the $60 we don't have to replace it. We want to take it to a repair shop but I think they'll turn us away since it's at least 10 years old. It's run it's course. After charging us for parts and labor with no guarantee it will last for significantly longer, we may as well pay for a new one that will last another 10-15 years.
I didn't know anything was wrong with it until I plugged it in and it sparked at me from the cord! THE HELL?! I screamed and mama asked me what happened. I told her and she looked at me guiltily and said that it did the same to her but she thought it was acting like that because the carpet was still a little damp from shampooing. That the problem would go away. Well, that probably pushed it over the top and now it's finished.
But then I was hopeful and thought "maybe it won't spark now after a week of not using it!". How stupid was I! The vacuum sparked even worse! I thought I was going to catch something on fire. So here we are, 3 weeks without a vacuum and we're at an impasse. We have a little much much weaker floor sweeper thing. Not nearly powerful enough to pick up all the debris we inevitably collect on the carpet though.
