This weekend was busy, busy busy! Spent Saturday at 2 different polling events, one in Tucson, one in Phoenix. Richard and Kavin came down to visit for the day! YAY! So I got to hang out with them which was awesome :o) Rabbit got a prize even though he wasn't there to collect it and I received a Boar Vert, but Mistress Magdelene kept calling me 'Lady Inara' and I have no ladyship in the SCA so I had to kindly correct her on that. I found out via text messaging (yay technology) that
atensibilla and Tiernan (sp?) are the new Tir Yisgthr Baron and Baroness which is uber cool.
ECS event was fun. Anne and Gaelen stepped up as Prince and Princess. I'm sure they'll do wonderfully. They have asked me to be their herald which is teh awesome. We also had the Bard of Galandor comptetition and a young lady named Francesca won the accolade. I'm sure she'll do wonderfully, it was lovely hearing her sing and play the flute. We went to TRH's house after the feast and had fun hanging out with people and enjoying liquid sustinence. I stayed up until 4am until my eyes betrayed me and I had to go to bed.
Sunday we saw Rabbit's dad and stepmom; they were in town for a car show so we all went to brunch. His stepsister is getting married in March so we got a few details about that which was helpful; we're trying our damndest to be there for the celebration.
Monday was a very lazy day; I took my guitar over to Whitney's house and she taught me a few chords so I can (weakly) play a few songs. Ugh. My fingers turned purple and HOMG do they hurt now. Steel stringed left-handed Fender Acoustic. Teh pain and teh pleasure. Hung out there and sang and such; we're trying to prep stuff for Estrella and it's proving to be... interesting. Etta Bee, Owen and E all can't go though :o( I'm very sad about this.
School's going well so far. I'm fascinated with 2 of my classes; you have no idea how akward it is listening to your professor say *plug children's ears* masturbation repeatedly. French I'm doing ok in, still a little rusty but that's to be expected. I explained to the professor that I hadn't spoken French in over 6 months and he said pas ne probleme which is good. I'm pretty excited about Cultural Psyc; it's absolutely fascinating analyzing things from a cultural perspective and seeing what is happening. I was analyzing the Galandor forums last night and being amazed by what all was going on there. Cultural norms and rules are fascinating I tell you.
Last night was pretty fun. We went out to practice and I got to giggle with some ladies, then Andrew (Barbara's fiance, aka Lyons) and I practiced guitar. I can now play "Wonderworld" very weakly, but at least I can play it. I've also seem to have "Stretched out on your Grave" down which is good. Strumming is difficult, though, especially strumming on beat. Andrew said my fingers are hurting because the strings are a bit too big for me; I need to get a capo and some lighter strings. So we kept practicing a bit then it was home time.
Wedding stuff is coming together. We have a trip planned for Vegas next month to finalize some things. And the ball starts rolling now.....
