This is a new feature I'm going to try on the LJ (and I can use my icons)! For the first entry, I thought I'd tantalize with a Book II excerpt.
From The Adamant: Book II, Chapter 2:
Tristan brought his arms up against himself. “There are many good powerful men - Sayer Marrister, Sayer Talac, the Jearl of Desmond, the Marq of the Summer Isles. They’ve all been weathered in battle; they all remember Ice Wars. But none of them have the legends that Cromas Morgenroth and Melandor Ormonde retain from that time; none of them have been imprinted onto the Elsinairian consciousness in the same way. The King and The Ormonde are flawed men certainly, but nevertheless they are our heroes.”
“Heroes,” Ange repeated with a scoff. “There has to be more to it than that.”
“Heroes - men up against incredible odds,” Tristan defined for himself aloud, head shaking. “I doubt that Rordec presents incredible odds, but it still makes me nervous.”
“Do you know what makes me nervous?” she said, turning at him with her brows arched high. “A rumor I heard that my Princely husband is returning home.”
