Oh yes! The sun came out today! Did you see it? Wasn't it beautiful! Sure it rained a little this morning...and some more this afternoon--But the Sun came out! Yea! I just went to my first Lindy Hop swing class tonight. 4 weeks left and I'll be a real amateur! We were working with the Charleston tonight, did a lindy circle and swing out. Nothing too crazy, but plenty difficult for a person who's been Tuxedo Ballroom dancing for years. The stance, the lead, the steps, the rhythm, the tension, the connection, the balance, and movement are all very, very different. It's hard to learn over the top of a way that is already an unconscious habit. It's good though, I'll be glad when I've got it down and can add in some variations and have a ball doing it. The community center was pretty warm tonight. I think next time I'll have to bring THREE shirts. It seems pretty strange. There are a few more leads than there are follows. The guys looked a little too uptight still to practice with each other, so I didn't ask. I stretched out before we started, but I still feel pretty stiff. I think I'll take a hot shower and do some more stretching before bed...even though I am feeling quite pooped out. It was fun. It's kind of amazing how perceptive many of the follows are. I'm trying to lead lightly, but true and even the beginners are figuring out what I want them to do. It's not like forcing them around the floor like I was taught in Waltz and Foxtrot. It's really kind of cool. There were some older ladies in there too that were doing really well. I was fairly impressed. Tomorrow I'm headed downtown to get the spine cut off of my Calculus Book. The front cover fell off and I thought it would be nice not having to carry around the other 3 pounds of paper that aren't applicable at the moment. I can't really think of any deep spiritual insights to write down. Well, I'd better hurry up and see if tomorrow arrives while I'm sleeping.
