Kinkyori Renai ~ Movie

Finally get to watch this movie, after all the wait. After watching it, I seriously can imagine how fangirls can go kyaa kyaa watching this, heck, even I went kya on some scenes too (thank God, I watch this at home). I find that the movie is very text book in delivering what are required of Shoujo manga live action, which are ikemen lead, kawai girl lead, munekyun scene, kabedon scene, and lastly beautiful kisu scene.

Thank goodness, this is the only kabedon scene in the movie.

Compared to the manga, the movie changed a lot of things on the circumtances and thus the environment and the character has a slight change as well. In another words, we cannot really compare apple to apple between the manga and the movie, even on the characters, which I think this benefits Yamapi a lot. Example, Kurumi's childhood friend who gave her that neko hairpin was transformed into a distant cousin, and no ESP cool toddler younger brother here as the Kurumi parents were abroad. Haruka's dad was not the famous actor here, instead the father became a salaryman who killed himself years ago. The hentai female teacher was replaced by the grown up version of Mirei from the drama. There're a groupy for Haruka sensei and they bully Kurumi, I don't remember Kurumi ever being bullied in manga because she kicks ass, and not as fragile as portrayed in the movie. Kurumi's fetish on beautiful face was replaced by the subconscious movements eg. when she's embarassed or angry, which is why she's always expressionless on face value. I can totally understand all this changes considering 1. they need to fit everything into 2 hours movie, where if you add the hentai teacher and Kurumi's childhood friend characters, it'll become a 10 episode drama, at least, 2. it's not realistic to have Kurumi's whacky innerthoughts in live action, whereby anything is possible in manga, 3. you cannot find a 2 year old toddler who can do the same thing as per manga.

How about Yamapi's acting here? After all he's the lead, so we have to discuss this. I give him credits for the effort. He seems to improve, not as forced as when he did Summer Nude. Johnny's need to make him do other roles than anything involving love scenes. He's not blessed with the eyes that can emote emotions like Nino. Imagine if Hiro plays Haruka instead of Yamapi, oh, it'll be another different ballgame (I always imagine Hiro as the live version of Haruka, probably because of the flirtiness in the manga). Haruka's here is much tone down, not so flirty with student and the movie's environment did give Yamapi advantage for not so much of being expressive so we can say it's because of the way Haruka should portrayed in the movie. You only can feel this when you read the manga before the movie.

Sigh, Yamapi, you're pretty, but I really wish you have a more yearning eyes especially when we supposed to feel moved by your gesture. BUT, you're still damn pretty to look at.

What about Kurumi? Kurumi without the beautiful face fettish and very catty and bitchy towards Haruka is actually came out as bland for me. They make her so freaking expressionless until, she's really expressionless (the manga still can pull off the sideline of the actual feelings of Kurumi, you know, the FEELS), but they don't do that in the movie. So Kurumi just looks kawaii and fragile in the movie, which is a bit pittiful because I think they can do a better job on her.

I like this literal side eyeing scene! Do you dare to do that in front of your sensei? In my time, this will lead to some smacking and bruises to bring home!

How about the pretty scenes? Kya moments? Oh don't worry, they threw in tons of it, including the playful by the beach scene, which is sort of compulsory for shoujo manga, but done it quite awkwardly in the movie, but nevermind, it's still pretty. LOL.

You'd want to hug him also if your personal pretty sensei personally came to your house, call you and say something like 'I just came by because I want to see you'.. hmm...

Yamapi can pull the pretty when he smiles like this...

Don't forget the gorgeous lovely scenes, courtesy of the production team.

The lighting reminds me of Natsu Niji

You can't deny that this is gorgeous, right? You can ignore that kissing = lip touching bullshit. Still pretty!

This is NOT real! Have you ever seen a teacher this good looking???? Gah, only in drama LOL.
