Ah, the semester has gotten off to an interesting start.
We won't get into the ensemble situation. It's over. I got screwed. Whatever. However, Dave Abbott (my former band director) had this to say about it all....
First - WHAT THE HELL?!?!
"That is crap about orchestra - if I were you.... Enlist as a double major (performance and music ed). Then you can just "drop/change" it the semester before you graduate. I cant believe that they are doing that..... unreal. "
Good to know he hasn't changed.
At least my piccolo parts for band are interesting. And by interesting, I mean ridiculously difficult.
Classes will be hard. I wish I had waited another year for methods. Perhaps I would be wiser...well, I'd be older anyways.
I stink at the clarinet. Trombone is much easier. Violin is uncomfortable. Conducting is a lot of work. Methods will kick my ass. Wind Lit is okay. At least I have the geology of national parks and monuments. Woo.
I know that this is supposed to be the best time of our lives, and we're supposed to be learning and growing and all those wonderful things, and yes, I am doing them, but I have to ask...
...is it December yet?
