School's out for summer

Today is Carden's last day of school, and I rejoice in the fact that my mornings are my own again, at least until September.

Graduation went really well - my speech ended up going so smoothly, it was like buttah. If you happen to recall that ridiculous "song" that came out a few years ago, the one by Baz Luhrman - you know, "Always wear sunscreen"? I did something like that, with the opening piece of advice being "Drink water" and then other life lessons follow. I've had numerous people come up to me and tell me they liked it, that they thought it was funny yet meaningful, that they think it was "just what the graduates needed to hear." (Tired of hearing me brag about myself yet?) It was really nice: I even had one parent pull me aside to tell me that her children love it when I'm on campus, and that they look forward to having me for a teacher in upcoming years.

Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now!

Although, if I had a dollar for everytime someone said to me, "I guess I'll have to be sure to drink a lot of water from now on!" I could probably buy myself a new pair of shoes. And here I thought that was such a good little bit.
